All good points.
As much as it could be argued either way, this group didn't set out to diplomatically deal with the Behir. Let the blood run forth. And hopefully in few enough rounds that we can save poor Arntsy.

Ugh!

This is totally going to change my "won't use game points on replaceable NPCs" decree.
I'll think about Anna's choices tonight, and hopefully post tomorrow.
points!

I'll be away camping this weekend, probably won't be able to post until Sunday eve (CST).
PS. The whole Behir hunt was AWESOME. That sort of fight, with hirelings being dragged off on litters, and a very real possibility of certain death had the rolls fallen differently is exactly the kind of old-school RPG action I've been craving recently. Looking forward to the greater challenges that await my merry band of Dwarves.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Have a fun trip. When you get back we can figure out how you are going to get back to Greyforge and then move on to chapter 2. If you could give me a heads-up about what you are going to do next I'd appreciate it.

I suppose, depending what Gurr and the rumor mill have to say when we get back to Greyforge, we'll set out with as much food as we can can carry, and set out for some serious exploring.
Perhaps we can talk Gurr into sending out an expeditionary force to clear out Uppers, might make a good staging area for future expansion. (Though maybe I'm smoking crack, and have no idea what kind of force is waiting there...) Just went back and double checked... yeah, slaying 40 of the beasts might be more than a simple skirmish.
Question: On the main Greyforge map, what are the "crossed swords" referring to? (especially down in H08)
Otherwise the 'safe' plan will probably be to load up with an Elk-load of food, and try to chart out the Eastern path through the northern woods, North of Uppers. Maybe find a back way to Uppers,or bypass it and see how close we can get to Mt. Awen.
Short version: It ALL looks dangerous

Better just set out East and see what happens. Hirelings were helpful

Six. I'm a bit concerned I'm -2 this soon into the catacombs. They're in over my head.

To my knowledge you have so far spent 1, saving Kilian a while back.
I assume you will spend another saving Anna from being hit this round, so in that sense, it will be 2 of 8.
You could also buy your way out of the whole situation - I'd charge you 2 GP to spot the mimics before they attacked you, or 1 GP to give you a hint as to how to get out of your present situation, so you;d still have to spend a point saving Anna. Ether way, you'd still have to spent 2 GP to get clear.
Otherwise I encourage you to think creatively to get yourself out of this.

Post to woe, above.
Post to Grendel -
You'll need to make it back to Greyforge first. That could be an adventure in itself.
The crossed swords are battlefields from when the goblins took the valley. Could be good loot there to find, if Milly makes a good place read. Those closer to Greyforge would already have been picked over by scouts. H08 is definitely not one of those. There was a disastrous battle there when the retreating dwarves were attacked on the south side of the River Awen as they were tempting to flee across the old ford, and many died. If you want to check that out you will need to ford the river. No one has done that in a long time.
Gurr is unlikely to commit troops until he knows there is a good clear objective. Let's say you (Chevo) have already discussed that with him. You guys scout out the objective, and then he'll come to the party.

I like the descriptions of the Dwarf fighters/scouts. I didn't realize Arntsy was so gullible, might have f*cked with him more...
Henry Darkledger, is he of immediate relation to Thann? Their history could be fun thing to play out.
