BUT...there are a range of issues with using both Scout and Ranger, that we are working out as we go along. This seems like a good opportunity to sort things out - but do you want to do all the paperwork?
Scout:
d6, 30' surprise, backstab, leather and light weapons only, +2 with shortbow, dual wield, start with thief base skills, add 30% per level, progress as fighter, woodcraft is obligatory.
Ranger:
d8, +2 with bow, can use martial weapons and metal armor, favored enemy, start with ranger base skills, add 15% per level, woodcraft is obligatory, but animal handling is a free skill, gain some spell-like abilities at 7th level. Fighter+10% exp costs.
Personally I think this is OK. If you want to spend points on boosting the ranger's tracking, you can. If you focus more on Hide and Sneak, Freya will end up a better tracker.
