"Kallas Grimsbeard. Son of Kallas the Fourth, brother of Kallismith the second, brother of Kallyill, brother of Kallysa the Only, let it be known that we of the Carnage of Steel sit in awe to be in the company of such a brave and powerful clan. A clan of such daring and cunning such that they could carve out a new world for themselves on the sea. A place of security and secrecy such that no others could find their new home where their loved ones prospered and their craftsmen excelled. A clan with such forethought and planning that they would spread some of the fruit of their labors far and wide so that it would always be there for their heirs to use should the homefires burn low for a spell.

It is that fruit that brings us here together. A chest lost to who knows what misadventure and then, no doubt, brought here to undermountain by the lowly creatures that live in the underbelly of evil. A chest rescued at great personal danger by Carnage of Steel. As fortune will have it, a fickle lady to be sure, we have also had the pleasure, nay the privilege, to find ourselves in good favor from you, sir, Kallas Grimsbeard, who knew what we had found and put us all in a position to make the world a better place."

with that Oypeen will sit back and shut up. Unless in the OOC thread we agree to give them the map. then he will say, "We have one more gift for you from the carnage of Steel. Our halflings are great lovers of maps. I say this so that you understand what a great tribute this is that they are willing to part with such a find. We have come into possession of a map that we believe will be of great interest to you. Hermia, would you and Mae like to handle this?"

The map doesn't have to be handled this way. And for certain, if someone thinks the map is more valuable as a negotiating tool we can dump this whole part of my post.

Giovanni is halfheartedly paying attention to the conversation.. His eyes drawn to the beautiful Mace just handed to him.. He feels its power thrumming in his hand and an almost eager desire to start smashing undead.

((Personally I think with the gifts we were presented, I think we should go with what is offered. I would prefer for them to see us as generous allies and not miserly skinflints holding out for the best price.))

((I believe that it would do exactly the opposite if we take what is offered. The dwarves who are traders (which back then meant barterers), would think us quite foolish and easily swindled. Not anyone to take seriously and never to trust when it mattered. Giving back the map uncopied would show that we are generous allies and negotiating a hard bargain would show that we are hard people who fully value ourselves and our skills which would make us good allies.))

Kallysa is seated in the middle of her brothers at the lead position of the dwarven delegation. She looks up with a bit of surprise as Hermia takes up the seat opposite her in the lead position for the Carnage of Steel. Kallas smiles broadly I told you this group was smart sister.

The dwarven cleric smiles easily at Hermia. What offer maiden? Or do you accept ours without contention?

As they speak Kallyill opens his ledger and begins to write the record of this transaction.

Hermia opens her mouth to speak, but Mae interjects. "Wait... one more thing."

She unrolls the map and places it on the table. "This was discovered with the steel. It is the only copy. It seems right that you should have it."

Hermia nods in agreement. "Oh! Yes. Yes, please accept it."

She clears her throat and continues.

"As for the rest of the find... how does 20 gold per pound of blue steel, and two hundred fifty thousand for the chest sound? One doesn't find such a magic item every day, after all."

She holds off on mentioning the possibility of accepting part of the price in trade for the moment, waiting to see how the initial offer goes over.

Kallismith reaches for the tooth tube holding the map and opens it. Smiling he nods to himself and then does something to the smaller tooth and it opens as well. He pulls a tightly folded piece of parchment from the smaller tube and nods again. The entire map is here sister. It's a great find and an even greater gift from the company.

Kallysa turns to Mae Thank you for returning that to us. It will make it much easier to find the remaining original ingots. Now as to your counter offer. I'd prefer 13 gold per pound of the ingots and 205,000 for the chest.

Kallas for his part is looking longingly from the chest to the tankard of ale and back again.

"225,000 for the chest. I don't think we could go much lower than 18 per pound on the steel... but." Hermia pauses and looks Kallysa confidently in the eye for effect. "But... I suppose we could come to an arrangement, if part of the value of the steel were paid in kind-- arms and tools of your clan's most esteemed make."
