Albert looks at the two men for a moment. Master Rykken I've seen them out at the job site on several occasions. Hard workers both of them.... I mean for apprentices they work very very hard, most apprentices are just walking around looking lost. Those two and about a dozen others are really trying to make journeyman status as it comes with a pay raise and some additional benefits. The working conditions are tough. We've got a lot to do and a short amount of time to get it all done before winter slows down production. The current line boss. He taps his chin for a few seconds thinking....Jason Silverpence is his name. He's a master carpenter in the guild and well respected for getting things done. He is rather a hard man to work for though and insists that one day off in seven is enough. He has no family so he is "wed to his work" as the old saying goes. To be honest sir I'd think we'd get more done with a five day work week, 10 hour days of course but the men get paid by the day out there and you could even pay them a half days wage for the days off, with two days off to let them enjoy some family time and have time to unwind. Just my opinion of course. I know that you never truly stop working as an adventurer.

Giovanni soon grows bored of all the banter, intimidation and threats.. He feels confident enough in his fellow CoS to let them do their thing.

'I'ma gonna wander next door and get me a coffee with an ear towards picking up any gossip about us or what we are doing..."

Giovanni heads out the door tasting a warm beverage and maybe a tasty pastry to go along with it..

"I hope this will help to compensate you in some small part for the inconvenience we put you through" he says, handing them each 1 gp. "I will make sure that Jason is apprised of the situation and there are no repercussions for you."

Turning to Albert, "We need to do everything we can to keep good workers like Jake and Carl. I agree that happy workers will give us better quality work. Implement the 5 day work week immediately as well as the days off pay. I really appreciate everything that Jason and the other bosses are doing but maybe you could have a talk with him about employee relations."

"I appreciate all your hard work Carl and Jake. You can return to work now and again I apologize for our rude behaviour."

Hermia and Mae have been silently watching the interrogation, trying to provide as much extra muscle as their three-foot-nothing frames will allow. Now, satisfied that the workmen are no threat, they follow Giovanni in search of some tea.

Giovanni and the two halflings head next door to the coffee house for some coffee, tea and whatever sweet bits they desire. Talk is subdued but it's easy to listen in on the conversations. Talk about trade and the money to be made importing new materials for the sudden civic works is as frequently heard as the question of "why" the sudden civic works.


Shortly after they've gotten into the second cup of their beverage they see Carl and Jake walking across the street and back towards the job site seeming to be very happy with themselves.


Ravoneth up on the roof also sees the two workers leave and upon turning to signal to James that she's heard something sees that her brother in arms is no longer sitting in his lookout position.

She will look around for him. Where could he have gone? Is it easier for him to go back inside or down the exterior?

Oypeen will hunt up a couple of their friendly street urchins and set them to following Carl and Jake and watching their actions for a few days to see what they might be up to. He'll give them each a silver piece.
