You seem to recall that the party recently found a dagger that glows amongst other things belonging to the now dead Band Of The Hand members town below.

Uh oh. I was worried you meant that. That was with Ravoneth, who threw it away oh I mean donated it to the Grand Obligations of Orphaned Destitutes. No matter. The kobolds don't know that.

I'm hopeful that the kobolds can't count much higher than a dozen, so if we pay many silvers many times, we'll owe them many silvers. Or maybe... a gold! As for the dagger, maybe they'll settle for a magical potion of extra-super-epic healing -- one drop and future wounds will be closed, allowing the owner to be near-invincible in combat.

As Ravoneth bargains with the kobolds she, and the other companions, notice that where there were 12-14 of the little buggers in the room initially now there are over 30. Glancing up Giovanni sees that more are coming out of the other passages in twos and threes. All instantly surround our Great Way Adept and try to add to the flow of "information".

At the description of Talpyn all of them fall silent and almost as one turn to look to the eastern passage (indicated by a * on the map). From that passage comes a *clack-clack-clack* as if a staff is striking stone. The kobolds clear a path between the passage and the CoS and wait in what can only be described as nervous anticipation. From the passage emerges a human male dressed in shabby robes and carrying a staff upon which he leans as he walks. On his right shoulder is a large black rat.

What is it that you want with the vampire and the cursed monk? His voice is strong and controlled, completely at odds with his appearance.

CoS I'd like to know exactly where you are all standing and any preparatory actions you might be considering with the appearance of the man.

Ravoneth is standing near Garbles. I don't know where he is, but put me next to him. Ravoneth is comfortable fighting with her hands, so no preparations needed.

"I am Ravoneth of the Quenyar Refuge. Brother James needs to return home and make penance for his recent acts, and I've been sent to take him there." She looks at the man calmly, then continues. "As for the dwarf, we are the ones responsible for his first death. If we encounter him, we're going to finish the job."

The CoS spreads out a bit preparing for whatever may come, they've been in this situation before. The old man in shabby robes looks at Ravoneth. His first death? Ah.... you are the reason he's hell bent on vengeance. Too bad for you then as you'll see him soon. As far as the cursed adept he's in one of the "cells of three". My most excellent scout Pike can show you the way. Of course there is a payment to be made for the location. My diminutive companions require silver, and Pike likes rope. Their clan has this horrible affliction that makes them covet silver coin, you'll not leave here alive unless each and every one of them has a coin to hold. Or that you can guarantee that the coins will be delivered within one days time. There are just shy of 300 of them. Do you have the coins? Oh and Garbles there likes glowing items......

Oypeen is still in the outer passage watching our back trail while the others play with their new friends.

To Ravoneth, "Well, we can cover that, but we don't have it with us. Stupid to tote that many coins down here. But if we pay that much we want more than a guide. We should have the help of this band if we run into trouble."

The man with the rat perks up a bit at Opyeens statement. You would want to hire kobolds to fight for you? Oh that can be arranged rather easily. How many do you require, at a silver each, payable to me of course.
