Unknown to Opyeen and Ravoneth an armored dwarf steps upon the platform and approaches. His stride is determined although slight and silent. They become aware as Opyeen receives a blow to the back that sends him off the platform and onto the floor beyond. Looking up quickly the Adept is able to form some sort of defense, a defense that does her no good as a heavy boot slams into her chest and sends her over the edge to land next to Opyeen. As the two CoS companions lay trying to draw breath the dwarf bends over the near dead man and begins a chant.

A discordant sound reaches the ears of Giovanni. It is a healing spell twisted and perverted into something evil and damning. It is the sound of purity blackened.

Arriving at Giovanni, Hermia can see the grimace upon his features as something twists and fouls his being. At the back of her mind and deep within her soul Hermia feels a perversion as if she is being intellectually defiled. Mae has her head upon the table, tears running from her eyes as she whimpers. Opyeen has his elvish purity torn and ripped, the sound keeps him on his back writhing in pain. Ravoneth is tormented by visions of anguish and perversion so far unknown to her as the dwarfs chant continues.

The inn is in silent and painful turmoil until..... *CRACK-BADABOOM!!!!!!* Something explodes with enough force to shatter the damning chant of the armored dwarf upon the platform.

The explosion of sound is the result of Kallas Grimsbeard, or more to the point the sound of his heavy axe slamming into the platform. The sound of the impact traveled the entire 140 feet to the bottom of the well and back with a devastating reverberation sending dust from the rafters and slight patrons to the floor.

The inn falls silent. Even Durnan stays behind his beloved bar unwilling to get involved.

Kallas speaks I thought you were banished from here Talpyn Soulreaver.

Turning from his casting Talpyn smiles and raises his mace. Tis been a long time Kallas.....

(If any of you want to get involved in this let me know and I'll script it along with your declared actions.)

Hermia closes the gap between her and Mae.

"Come on, let's see some of that halfling courage. There's a girl," she says, helping her to her feet. Mae says nothing yet, but looks miserable, like she might throw up at any moment.

[Huh, somehow I've been operating under the assumption Hermia had a crossbow all this time, but looking at her sheet she seems to have a shortbow. Did I swap at some point? Also, question, did Kallas's attack end the spell?]

(If I recall correctly you swapped to a short bow after the Manticore fight due to the slow rate of fire of the crossbow.)

(Kallas does indeed break the spell.)

[Alright. Splendid.]

After a moment, Mae swallows whatever might have been coming up with a shudder.

"Okay, that happened. Better now. I think. Mostly," she says, putting on a brave face to reassure Hermia that she's okay. Hermia smiles back and pats her arm. Suddenly all business, Mae dodges into the crowd, hoping the axe's loud rattle proved disarming enough to the cruel dwarf that she can get a drop on him. If she can get close enough in time to attack, she does so, favoring a path that allows her to get a backstab in.

"Hurry, we have to help, Ravoneth and Oypeen are still over there!" Hermia shouts, turning to Giovanni, the chaos having put the dying man out of her mind for the moment.

Unsure of what the dynamic is between Kallas and Talpyn yet, Rykken will wait to see what exactly is going to happen.

He definitely felt the evil emanating from Talpyn's spell casting attempt though and will ready his Magic Missile. He will wait until Talpyn attacks Kallas to release the Magic Missile on Talpyn. Since they have already been involved in one scuffle here, he wants to make sure that he can say they acted in self-defense.

Does Ravoneth know where the nearest CoS healer is? If so, how far?

otherwise... Ravoneth will do her best to get back onto the platform and move the wounded man away from Talpyn.

A slightly heavy set man in full armor begins moving his way towards the confrontation, a quiet chant emanating from his mouth as he draws closer. As the chant ends a small column of light seems to radiate from around the cleric in a small circle. (protection from evil). He points at the the dwarven 'cleric'.

I donta know who you are but if I hear ona more word cursed word slip from your twisted mouth you are gonna be tasting the iron froma my mace for a month..''

He looks over at his two compatriots still shaking off the sneak attack and gives them a quick nod..

With the spell ended the companions are able to ready themselves for Talpyn Soulreaver. Mae takes off like a dart after shaking off the effects of the dwarven chant. She angles through the crowd to come up on the platform behind the dwarven cleric. Getting in position she comes up next to Ravoneth. The adept is looking a little battered but far from beaten as she glances around for Giovanni, not seeing him she also make sher advance upon Talpyn.

Rykken readies a spell while remaining at his table. Knowing the Magic Missile can't miss he is content to engage from a distance.

A simply cast spell of protection leaves the CoS clerics mouth and a slight glow encircles him as Giovanni draws his own mace and advances to the platform.

For his part Kallas Grimsbeard simply stands waiting on Talpyn to make a move.

Talpyns mace, a beautiful black weapon with the image of a woman carved upon the head hangs easily by his side. The dwarf glances behind him slightly then down at the dying man. With a smile he bends a little and when his mace touches the man there is a brief pulse of black light. As the man dies the Soulreavers mace smiles an evil grin.

From behind the barn Durnan whispers Oh no.....

Oh, that's no good! When Talpyn turns back to Sturm, Ravoneth will launch into a flying kick and attack from behind.

(I'm going to assume you meant Kallas instead of Sturm)

Initiative
Mae-9
Ravoneth-8
Hermia-7
Giovanni-7
Opyeen-6
Kallas (waiting by choice)
Rykken-3
Talpyn (acting last by choice)

Mae takes the platform in two long strides and slashes at Talpyns legs from behind *slash-CLANG!* Her short sword hammers into the back of the dwarfs thigh and impacts armor, the shock of the impact runs up her arm sending tingles through the appendage.

As Mea steps back to hold her now numb arm the adept Ravoneth flys past her at shoulder height with her feet out in front in a flying double kick. *swoosh-thud-slide*. Her attack is well aimed but the dwarf squats and turns his shoulder at the moment of impact and the adept ricochets off and over his head. Turning in mid air Ravoneth is able to land on her feet next to Kallas and facing Talpyn.

As the dwarven Dark-Cleric begins to stand upright again Hermia charges in to grapple his legs. She succeeds in wrapping his legs up simply due to the fact that Talpyn refuses to dodge or move. Looking up Hermia can see the dwarf looking down at her with an evil grin as he tightens his grip on his mace.

Seeing what could be her demise in the eyes of the evil dwarf Hermia is stuck motionless as Talpyns muscled shoulder and arm begin to move. She can feel him plant his feet into the bones of the earth and tense his body for the strike. At the moment he begins to swing a mace appears out of the corner of her vision swinging in towards the dwarven mouth and that terrible grin. *swing-CRUNCH!!!!!* Goivannis mace slams into Talpyns grinning face tearing flesh and teeth from the mouth. The dwarf, stunned slightly, staggers backwards a step. Hermia feels an intense pain as the fingers of her right hand are caught in the straps of a dwarven boot. Looking to her hand Hermia is greeted with the sight of three broken fingers, blood runs from the twisted bone fragments peeking out of the flesh of her index, middle and pinky fingers.

(Unsure what Opyeen has planned)

As Hermia pulls her hands away and cradles her injury there comes the feeling of thunder on the platform as Kallas charges in. His axe held out and behind his right shoulder the dwarven warrior skids to a halt in front of Talpyn and snaps his body forward using every ounce of his 240lb frame to drive the weapon forward. *swing-CRACK!!! The axe drives into the armored chest of his foe leaving a rather large crease in the plate mail.

Streaming out of the crowd comes a series of magical bolts from Rykken. Slamming into the dwarf in quick succession the leave trailing whisps of smoke and the scent of ozone in the air.

Dazed a bit and fully angered Talpyn swings his mace and the closest target available. As the mace comes around in a blind swing there is a muttered Midnight from the dwarf. The mace transforms from the image of a beautiful maiden to the visage of a fanged and demonic thing. The strike is off balance and badly timed but it does glance off of the armored forearm of Kallas. When it impacts the dwarven warrior Kallas drops his axe and backs away. The companions can see clearly that his eyes are solid white and unseeing, the dwarf is blind. Holding his hands in front of him as he moves Kallas begins cursing.
