With the COS cut down to 3 members from the original 6 (having lost a faithless cleric, a stalwart dwarven warrior and a human thief) the remaining members take some time at the Yawning Portal to have a few drinks, a hearty meal and discuss what the next step is. Durnan as usual is never far from the group and he occasionally wanders over and offers a drink on the house or some encouraging words.
Meanwhile across town a young cleric under the tutelage of Balmorea is eating his evening meal. In walks the high priest Giovanni I have something I want you to do for the church. Taking a seat across the table and helping himself to a cup of wine the healer continues There is a group of adventurers here in town that we've had dealings with on a couple of occasions. Yes the same ones that recently ended the ramblings of the Ghost Knight although it cost them greatly.. The big man looks thoughtfully into his cup for a few seconds as if divining higher purpose from the amber liquid. Simply put we need you to find out if they are going back into the dungeons and if they are you must petition them to go along. We feel that your clerical abilities have gone as far as they can in the safety of the church. You've come a long way and I'd like to see you go much farther. Go adventuring. Gain some knowledge of the world outside these walls. Make a fortune and make some friends along the way. Then return to us if you feel it is your calling to be a leader in the church. If you feel compelled to do something else then at least stop in once in a while and let us know how you fare. With that he drains his cup and leaves Giovanni to think on his words.
Walking into the Yawning Portal, the Gnomish Magic User Quistine Foechuckle glances around looking for her intended contacts. She's recently heard that a rather successful adventuring group has lost several members in a magical battle. Well since she's got a few skills tucked neatly into her repertoire, and the Carnage of Steel happens to have a few openings, she figures it's time to see if she can join up. Making a pile of money simply picking locks and casting spells is going to be one great way to go back home a rich Gnome. Ah, there they are sitting around a table drinking and looking rather forlorn.
