Moving with cat like grace and speed Quistine deftly snatches the brass key from the floor and springs backwards.
Moving with much less speed and zero grace the armored figure remains motionless.

Ahh, to hell with it, Oypeen steps forward and snatches the ring from his palm (and now it is time for me to leave ... kung fu reference

)
((This seems just to obvious of a "don't take the ring" thing. So I will be hard headed and take it.)

The armored figure steps back to its original position. Opyeen you are now the proud owner of a Horned Ring. I'll send you a pm with all the details.

There is nothing else of interest in the room. As the party backs out the secret door closes on its own with a muffled *thud*

"woot woot, we lived thru it. Now lets go see if we can open that secret compartment in the pillar."

With what appeared to be imminent death averted through shear bravado and spinal fortitude Opyeen leads the way down the west corridor towards the room of pillars with a new ring and a smug smile of confidence. Stepping lightly down the stairs the three original members catch a faint scent of singed hair and burned leather, the only remnants of Liannas burning coin mishap. The same mishap that would lead to the death of her, and the stalwart warrior Sturm.
Nothing has changed in the room, same snake skeleton, same diffuse glow, same dead magic area. At the southern most pillar is loose stone indicating a hidden compartment.
(I'll let you all decide who attempts to open the compartment.)

Oypeen removes his ring of protection and slides on the "horned ring". Pairs of horns curl out and backwards towards my finger. I sense that the horned ring functions as a ring of teleport within Undermountain. The wearer can specifically define their arrival area.
The rest will be revealed to me either through its use or by getting it "looked at" by someone who knows these sort of things, say Rykkens friend Ol' Prydwyn.
I also sense that the ring breaks all wizard locks, walls of force, holds, webs and other magical barriers on contact with no harm to the wearer. They absorb magic missiles and electrical spells and natural effects to re-power themselves.
There are only 8 of these known in existence and all but two have been accounted for.

((I'm really trying to fight down the urge to have my character in another room every time we try something.. a Fireball from hell will do that to you))
