Out in the east corridor Quander is in quite the conversation with his new pet.

But say, can you tell me what lies in that corridor full of mirrors?

There are mirrors, lots of them and some things behind.

And do you know what is around the corner, to leftwise and rightwise?

Hmmm... To the left is right and some more lefts. To the right is more right.

And have you ever seen anything in this room come to life? The statue or the snake, move about of their own accord?

No. Nothing in there lives again.

And, have you ever seen any others come this way? Monsters? People? Floating balls with eyes?

Others yes. Monsters yes. People yes. Big floater yes, soon before.

You do not need to make anything up. Just tell me what you know and there is very much food in it for you.

I know that I'm still hungry and tired and thirsty.

While Quander is chatting and Rykken is out in the western hall checking out the mirrors Opyeen moves south to make sure that nothing is going to sneak up on Lianna while she inspects Nnesks' coin. Taking a quick glance down the adjacent southern tunnel Opyeen spots four shambling creatures with rotted flesh milling about (the area marked "m") near the far corner. One of them seems to sniff the air and start a slow stumble towards the intersection.

(To Opyeen- You've seen what appears to be 4 zombies gathered in the adjacent corridor. One of them has caught the scent of the party or goblin or something so it stands to reason that all of them are going to be heading your way. You have one action before we roll for initiative."

I keep talking to the rat and I give him some more food. I am trying to coax him into my robe pocket.

Those are good answers, my friend. But what are the things behind the mirrors? Are they dangerous?

As soon as I become aware of the zombie situation, I will make my way down to deal with them. I will also warn Rykken that my pet thinks there is something 'behind' the mirrors that could be dangerous.

Oypeen will call to lianna and say, "back to the pillar room now. Tell Quander we got zombies coming."

Once Lianna is past, Oypeen move to the stairs and then pour out a flask of oil in a line across the middle of the passage at the top of the stairs (he will use 2 flasks if it looks like 1 won't get the job done.) "Rykken bring your lantern and a torch."

He will wait to see what success Quander has with turning them away. If they continue to come on he will light the oil by tossing in a torch when they step into the pool, hoping for burn damage as well as the potential to fall down the stairs when the flames burst up and screw with their perception.

Once Lianna posts up what she has in mind I'll run with it.

(To Quander: The rat jumps into your pocket with the comment "Not as dangerous as those dead ones!" and promptly curls into a 2lb ball while eating whatever food it was you gave him.)

Hearing the call to arms, Rykken will re-enter the pillar room and will ready an oil flask for throwing.
"Here is the lantern but I believe Quander has the torch you're requesting."

(No torches round here. I am using the light staff now.)

You should be careful with those mirrors, Rykken. My rat friend says there is something strange in there.'

As soon as she hears Oypeens warning Lianna will quickly reach down and grab the coin off the floor using an old rag. Regardless of whether or not she can even pick up the coin she will then book it back to the pillar room and take up position next to her "captive."

As Sturm hears the calls coming from the south about Zombies, he readies his maul and mumbles 'Finally I can be useful... Come on Quander we got some undead coming this way!' and with that he begins moving south.

With the whisper of Opyeens quiet message still in her ears Lianna grabs a small rag from her belt pouch and picks the coin up from the floor. The instant that the coin is disturbed there is a loud *WHOOOSH!* and Lianna is immolated in a 4' diameter white hot column of flames.

The light and back wash of heat can be felt even by those farther back in the pillar room and beyond. Being closer Opyeen takes some heat and his hair is blown back with a sudden updraft as the air in the tunnel tries to stabilize.

(Opyeen: You've taken 3 points of heat damage.)

(Lianna: You've taken 14 points of heat damage.)

With a frantic twist and lunge Lianna drops the coin and falls half out of the column of flames. As Opyeen rushes to her aid (DM assumption) he is greeted with the smell if burnt hair and roasted flesh. Lianna, still trying to get free of the flames turns eyes that have ruptured in the heat towards the sound of his running footsteps.

One round remaining until the zombies arrive. I'd forgotten how slow they were.

Oypeen rushes to Lianna's aid, "Confound it, woman," he shouts as he pulls her out of the last of the flames and then pulls out one of his ready heal pots and puts it to her mouth. "Your lust for gold is gonna get us all killed one day. Why would you set off such an obvious trap when we are under attack? Drink this now then help me fight these zombies."

Oypeen thinks they probably won't be able to get back to the room now before the zombies appear, so as soon as he is able he will stand and pull his mace (+3 vs undead) and ready himself to fight against the zombies from this side.
