Sounds good. Since Lianna caught Nnesk (the goblin) we'll let her do the questioning.

I'm curious to know what Quander has in mind for his new friend.

((Alright now I get it.))

Once Lianna has the goblin near the center of the room she calmly says,

Sturm would you be so kind as to relieve our friend here of any weapons he may have? ((IE search him for hidden daggers and the like))

She keeps her dagger pointed at the goblin as she circles around to stand in front of him.

Alright, lets keep this simple. Continue to do as I say and I will let you go. Try to run or lie to me and will hang you from the snakes jaws myself. She motions towards the skeletal snake.

Lianna will give the goblin time to answer each question before asking the next.

Who are you and what are you doing here? Are you alone? How did you get down here in the dungeon? Who is the "mean man"? What does he look like?

If he answers the questions quickly and doesn't appear to be obviously lying Lianna will let him lower his hands from his head.

At this point Lianna will ask the others if they have any questions they want to ask.

Sturm quickly removes a battered short sword and rather sharp dagger from Nnesk and tosses them to the floor before stepping back and keeping an eye on the proceedings.

At Liannas gesture toward the skeletal snake with its jaws roped shut Nnesk pales a little then turns his attention to the questions.

Who are you and what are you doing here?
Nnesk! Me Nnesk. Nnesk get coin, take coin next level. Nnesk go home

Are you alone?
Nnesk not alone! Nnesk have family, Nnesk get coin, take coin next level, go home to family.

How did you make it down here in the dungeon?
Mean man with gold lie and make Nnesk here!

Who is this "mean man"? What does he look like?
Mean man is mean man. Look like allas yous tall ones. Black hairs on face and head, black clothes, smells old. Mean man is mean man. Him makes Nnesk here, Nnesk get coin, take coin next level. Nnesk go home.

It's unclear whether Nnesk actually knows how in the heck he got here. What is clear is that he wants to get that coin that the "mean man" gave him down to the next level so he can go home. How he plans to get home is a mystery as well.

{map updated. The "n" is the goblin, the "r" is Quanders rat.}

(Can you ask the goblin about our surroundings? Does he know what is down the mirror hall? Does he know if the statues ever come to life? How long has he been here?)

I've heard a bit of what the goblin has to say and it doesn't seem like he is from around here.

I am also presuming that the rat didn't respond when I talked to it so it is not a polymorphed human.

I cast Speak with Animals on the rat. From the scroll.

concluding with...

'Tail of rat
and wing of bat
let this beastie chitter chat!'

If questioned about the statue room and hall of mirrors Nnesk points down the hall to the south towards the coin.
Mean man make Nnesk there. Not there before, mean man make Nnesk there the last day before. Nnesk get here, get coin, take coin to lower level, go home to family. Nnesk not know mirrors, not know snake, not know big stone man.

All while saying this he is gesturing towards the statues and pillars and such.

Nnesk get coin! Nnesk take lower level! Nnesk go home!!!!

He's now stomping his little foot and getting agitated.

Quander as you attempt to cast the spell the first few syllables stutter a bit coming from your mouth. Something in here is stopping you from casting. The scroll remains intact and still ready for use but you can't cast from it.

(To Quander, Opyeen and Rykken: From Quanders miss-cast attempt and what you have all noticed, i.e. Rykkens sword not glowing and spells in your head being muddled etc..., you can likely presume that this room is Magic Dead. You can cast nothing in this room. No magical items will work. Nothing magical will function here.)

Oypeen grows bored with the petulant goblin and begins searching the room for secret doors, compartments or other fun hidden items

Opyeen cruises through the rest of the room and other than the trapped stone that Lianna found earlier he finds nothing. Oh there is still that over sized buttery golden coin on the floor.

Lianna soon discovers a loose stone on one of the southern pillars. Her skills at detection indicate that there is most likely a trap associated with the stone. What kind of trap is unknown.
Oypeen inspects that loose stone without touching it, but he knows that this sort of thing is not within his expertise. He is looking at the size, finger smudge marks, scratches as if frome a blade edge, rub marks on stone and pillar, etc to judge if this is a cover for a hideaway behind the stone or maybe a big button that makes something else happen. Doubting that he will know anything much from just staring at it, he'll see what he can see then return to watch the Goblin show.

(To Opyeen: Sorry man that sort of trap detection, especially this trap, is way out of your abilities.)

((i wasn't looking for a trap. I was just trying to see what i could see in general. Basically, is it a big stone that might hide a compartment or a little stone that is more a trigger to open something else. Oypeen is mostly just killing time while the others get information from either the rat or the goblin ((and reminding people that this loose stone is still here :) I did say that I doubted that I would get much info from staring at a stone. ))
