Rykken joins in the celebrations. "'Twas a hard and well-fought battle but I must say I am a little disappointed. I was looking forward to setting that monstrosity ablaze. Ah, well, I'll just have to wait until next time then."

As the adrenaline wears off, he begins wandering the room, visually examining the snake, the statues, the gold thing-a-ma-jig in front of the statue, and anything else in the room to see if he can gain any clues as to what might be suppressing the magic in this room.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

Lianna hangs in the back, quiet as ever. She begins to casually inspect the statue. Starting from the bottom and working to the top, while slowly circling it, keeping her hands in her pockets while doing so.

Yes, yes hard fought battle..
Shes says rather absentmindedly. Now what did you call that thing, Hermia? A Portal Beast? I wonder if any more of them are lurking about.

Oypeen wants to know what is south. I personally want to know what is west. I move back into the pillar room, and have good look down the western tunnel. What are all those doors / alcoves?

(It seems like we are not going up to the surface just yet).

Sturm feels the adrenaline leave him in a giant WHOOSH and his legs get just a bit rubbery..

I'm going to have a seat on these steps while you guys look around.

With that he goes and sits on the eastern steps and pulls out a hard biscuit out of his backpack and starts gnawing on it.

Between mouthfuls of biscuit he mutters to the group.. I think we should explore this area, maybe take a peek down that south hallway and then head back up to regroup and rearm. After seeing my life flashing before me, I could use a stiff Dwarven Ale to put a bit more starch in my backbone..

At the base of the statue is an overly large gold coin. Roughly three times the size of a normal coin the gold is soft and obviously very pure.

A casual inspection of the room reveals nothing out of the ordinary other than a message scrawled on the southeast diagonal wall that reads "CERTAIN DEATH THIS WAY!!!" with an arrow underneath pointing towards the south passage. There is a burnt out torch end on the floor that was probably used to scratch the message.

Any magical item you have fails to work in this room, spells contained in your heads are fuzzy and indistinct. For some reason though Quander is still under the influence of his potion of speed.

Lianna soon discovers a loose stone on one of the southern pillars. Her skills at detection indicate that there is most likely a trap associated with the stone. What kind of trap is unknown.

Quander looks into the west hall and sees light from Rykkens lantern reflected several times. It looks like a hall of mirrors. Near the middle a large black rat is sniffing at something on the floor.

Opyeen studies the southern passage and his keen elven eyes pick out a goblin squated on the floor about 40' out. The creature appears to be looking at something on the floor.

(does this goblin appear to be looking in much the same way the rat is looking at the floor? can i feel a breeze coming from the south or does the smoke go that way at all? Is the soouth passage actually a passage and not just a weird mirror mimicking the rats movements?

(BTW, oypeen now has 16 hitpoints for your signature table)

The smoke from the lantern does not indicate a breeze nor do you feel one. As far as you can tell the rat (west hall of mirrors) and the goblin (south hall of plain stone) are individual creatures.

(so the south passage goes 60' south as far as I can see and continues on. 40' out is a goblin sitting on the floor looking at something on the floor. In the west passage full of mirrors is a rat approximately 40' out looking at something on the floor. And neither entity is acting aware of our presence. I would cast charm person on the goblin, but I suspect its a waste of a spell because I don't really believe that goblin is there. But I could be wrong)
