Also, I would like Alfred to look into purchasing the buildings around the exit from the ghost knight cavern but without giving away that it is us (or just Oypeen if no one else sees the need) that is purchasing it. I think if we are going to use it from time to time to exit the undermountain that we should try to secure it to prevent an ambush catching us exiting some time. I am not sure what district it is in. If its a poor district it shouldn't cost much, but if its a better neighborhood I probably won't want to waste the money.

Alfred promises to look into it once he's got a solid handle on the projects he has going now. It shouldn't cost much since it's in a mid-poor area that's been haunted for years, until now of course.
Thank you, Alfred. No need to rush into it it, but when you get a chance I would like to know if there is anyway we can secure that area for ourselves while still making a profit from it. We could possibly open a hidden stairwell down into the room from one of the buildings and use it to come and go more securely without being seen. Maybe even a couple batpoles behind a sliding bookcase.

After his conversation with Alfred, Oypeen readies all his gear and awaits for everyone else to be ready to depart.

Hehe. You've cleared about 10% of the top level.... there are 8 more below this one. Well done so far though in that most of you haven't died.

If he was able to only buy one building in the area, or more to the point only willing to buy one of the less run down buildings would that suffice? Are you thinking of setting up a permanent residence there for all of you or were you looking to get several houses all together. To be honest the best he could possibly do is buy one house that has it's footprint above the Ghost Knight chamber and use that one to access the area and then possibly buy the other four or five that sit over the chamber and have them demolished and turn that area into a gardened area or lawn for relaxation. Let me know what you plan to do with the building(s) and I can expand on that.

*laugh* There are so many little projects going on both above and below that it's getting hard for me to keep up as the DM. It is nice to see that this has become more than a "lets go kill something and get some loot" sort of adventure for you all. Property owners, saviors of the poor, funding an orphanage and civic works.... you are pretty busy even in your down time above the catacombs.

I don't really have an idea what I want to do with that area, but I know that I don't want to be seen going in and out of a storm drain all of the time, especially if we get chased away from the well room like we did before. I was just thinking it would be nice to own any buildings that had windows overlooking the storm drain so we could board them up or something.

The problem with building a new passage down to the fireball room is that the workmen would know that its there. Not sure I could trust that info to common work crews, and Oypeen isn't the type to kill his workers afterwards to keep a secret. I was mostly just making a joke about having an Alfred so we need a batcave and some batpoles to go along with him.

The other problem with going that way all the time is that it's liable to fray poor Hermia's nerves.

what if we repainted the walls, hung some tapestries, put up a memorial for our fallen comrades and had the room consecrated by the gracious monk.

Traveling tomorrow -- long flight. I'll probably be out of contact until Sunday.
