Are either of you considering the "vow of poverty|sacrifice" aspect that monks need to respect? Here's descriptions of one and another similar feats, in case the constraint isn't clear in the BFRPG supplement.
Freya HP 24/24 AC 16 (17 two weapons)
Kilian HP 20/20 AC 19 (18 no shield)
Talin HP 29 AC 16
Tiana HP 11 AC 12 SP 8/8
Fido HP 9/9 AC 16
Anna HP 12/12 AC 15 (19 defensively)
Bruce HP 20/20 AC 16 (15 no shield)

monks don't walk about naked do they? If it rains are they allowed to wear a cloak? If it snows do they wear heavy boots and furs? If they go into the dungeon to look for lost monks and do away with evil do they wear appropriate clothing?

There's quite a difference between wearing shredded robes, wearing normal clothing, and wearing +6 nonmagical masterwork robes that only 1% of the populace would ever see in their lifetime, much less buy.
You may carry and use ordinary (neither magic nor masterwork) simple weapons, usually just a quarterstaff that serves as a walking stick. You may wear simple clothes (usually just a homespun robe, possibly also including a hat and sandals) with no magical properties. You may carry enough food to sustain you for one day in a simple (nonmagic) sack or bag.
The monk taking a vow of poverty must never own more than six possessions—a simple set of clothing, a pair of sandals or shoes, a bowl, a sack, a blanket, and any one other item. Five of these items must be of plain and simple make, though one can be of some value (often an heirloom of great personal significance to the monk).

I admire your strict adherence to your order :). And about your post in the game thread. Its more likely that you would have refused such clothing before you were ever fitted and thus saved the dwarves the effort of making it for you.

True, and if Jandolar lets me retcon it I'll appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll RP it as she is stunned by the gift and later realizes that she can't accept it.

I think the vow of poverty for both monks and paladins are both historical as well as game balance. +14 on my AC is downright awesome for a level five character. :D

Tell you what. Mae will take ownership of them and lend them to you since they're too big for her to wear.

I too applaud you in your strict dedication to the character class and ethos. If you'd prefer to have never been given the DBS robe then we'll just delete that from play and you can wear the outfit that Alfreds wife made for you initially. It is very well made but offers no AC bonus.

LL: haha. thanks for the offer though it probably would fail the curate review held at the end of R's pilgrimage. :)

Jandolar: sure, that or her soulsearching then returning them in the morn, whichever is easiest to play.

Easiest way to save time (PbPs are rife with delays anyway) is to delete the DBS robes in general. I do appreciate your willingness to RP it though. I'll delete your post in the playing thread.
