I will admit I am more of a hack 'n slash fan myself but like the others I didn't mind the way the game was going. RL just seems to keep intruding so I was a bit slow in posting sometimes.

A break will probably be good for all of us though and when we get back into it, it will be fresh again.

I'm looking forward to continuing our adventures.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

I admit that I was getting a little lost with all the other things going on here.. I felt like I wasn't really adding much to the group..

That was my fault. I tried to add too much to the game.

I think we all were a bit confused by worrying about a eyethingie and then almost hunting a vampire or a reanimated evil cleric but then end up at a cage. I didn't know it was the long lost cleric until after the trap was actually sprung.

Undermountain and Waterdeep have so many levels of intrigue and subterfuge to begin with, me adding in the civic works and other things just made it a mess to sort out and deal with for both characters and DM.

I'll get it cleaned up so that you can enjoy the game.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't think the civic works has confused anything or made it more complicated. For me, it was the number of options that hit us all at once down here in the dungeon. We should have just killed all those damn kobolds after they were put to sleep. Our humanitarian or elfian or whateverian tendencies to not want to hurt the cute and cuddly that got us into this mess lol.

I don't think Hermia would have stood for that-- she may be slightly too soft for the adventuring life, she takes prisoners.

exactly, so we have to play the consequences. No problem with that. Was just pointing out how it got complicated so quickly

Even if you'd killed all the little rats you'd have still had to face the mage dude. Not to give out too much but the riding factor on everything that happens in level one of the dungeons is that key that Rykken holds, er... has in storage up in the vault. The beholder, the dragon scales, that damned drow priestess, the Band of the Hand, the mercenaries and the mage all are looking for that key. To be honest the fact that you stumbled upon it was rather like a needle in a haystack find. The bad guys finding Brother James as a patsy was no accident. Neither is that they now hold Ravoneth for the same intentions. Of course telling you all this does nothing for you as far as game play goes. These are all things that your characters would have deduced by now.

Putting too many options out there for you is a table top tactic to keep you running and gaming while keeping the real goal alive in the back of your minds. In a PbP it tends to muddle things up a bit. I didn't realize that until it happened. This is my first ever PbP so that was a rookie mistake on my part.

Its not the difficulty of the task. I don't think any of us are worried about that more than we would be normally. Its that in very few posts we went from paying off a bunch of stupid kobolds and anticipating fighting a vampire (and hopefully not a eyedude) to being confunded by a disappearing party member and a non-virgin cleric in a cage. It was a bit jarring and confusing lol
