Re: OOC Tavern.
I've got to put this PbP on hold for a while folks. Too much going on for me to post regularly and the game is suffering because of it.
My apologies.

Re: OOC Tavern.
No worries.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.
Re: OOC Tavern.
I feel that I need to explain myself and why I've decided to let this sit idle for a while.
I'm in the midst of a massive inspection at work, government lives and dies by paperwork and inspections, and I'm hip deep in it even when I come home after work. I can't focus on BFRPG with all that in my head.
But it's more than that.
I think I've been trying too hard to make this PbP an all encompassing adventure for you all. I could have easily made this a "hack and slash" dungeon crawl but watching you all evolve as the game went on made me want to offer you more. That's why the above Undermountain (the town building with Alfred at the helm, the civic works, the helping of the poor, the temple, etc.) suddenly became the forefront of the game. I thought that by allowing your characters to become more than just run-of-the-mill adventurers you'd enjoy the game more. I figured if you had some alternate motives for going below you'd have more fun with it and I think I overloaded this to the point where it has become less of a game and more of a job for you. I see that you all are posting less and less and I understand that you are just checking in to see what new manner of drivel the DM is injecting into the storyline that has nothing to do with adventuring.
I was trying to run this like a life-adventure instead of a game. This is meant to be a fun time of encounters and dice rolling and it will be again. Once we're back at it I'll make it more adventure oriented and less about the day to day life above the dungeons.

Re: OOC Tavern.
It's not that, necessarily. Personally I liked having stuff to do above ground. Foraying into a dungeon can be good fun but urban and wilderness adventures punctuated with the occasional delve are my personal favorites, especially getting to interact with/befriend NPCs (especially unexpected ones like monsters that turn out to not be automatically hostile.)
But my own circumstances have had me a little down for a while now, and having to roleplay two characters can be a little draining, so I just haven't been quite as inspired as I was the first several months. Having a few weeks off while everyone gets things sorted out might be just the ticket to get us all moving again. I just mean to say that I mostly like the direction the adventure is going, though I'd like to wrap up the cultists thing sooner rather than later when we get back on the horse.

Re: OOC Tavern.
I didn't realize I was posting less. I know I'm the new one in the group so I won't have the same fatigue as the rest of you, but I'm fine with the direction and the "it's more about a dungeon crawl" approach. IMO that's what is supposed to happen between 6-8. PCs start to worry about building a dominion (i.e. molding the world about them). So when y'all are ready to start playing again, I'm looking forward to it.
PS I don't even know about the cultist plot! Talpyn, a beholder, and Brother James are the only story arcs I know of.

Re: OOC Tavern.
I have been more than happy with whats been going on. I try not to post too little but I kn ow that I can (and have) over posted more than others are able so I try to keep my posting so that it doesn't overwhelm others.
