Perhaps you all see kobolds differently than I do. Kobolds (in the games that I've ran in the past) are the equivalent of Kinder driven to a task by those much stronger and meaner than they are. Kobolds are not inherently evil or devious by nature. They are inquisitive, naive, and easily fooled into a quest or task. Most times they are used as fodder to weaken a foe before the true antagonists join in combat since they breed like rabbits and tend to be easily rounded up in the thousands and driven with threats and violence. (anyone read any Salvatore and his take on Kobolds in the Underdark?)
The best way to describe them here is that they are less than 3' tall, thin and reptilian in nature. The lowest of the low in the goblinoid ranks. Most often scavengers or forced into clean up jobs and risky endeavors while the true powers that be sit back and watch without regard to the little buggers lives. They have the advantage of quick population increase due to the open nature of their breeding and that they can adapt to almost any environment.
Here they are scavengers. Living off of the refuse of others. Mildly intelligent and easily swayed with promise of fortune or payment. They strive to thrive no matter their current lot in life.
