This song :)

And I don't expect us to hang out together in town. In fact I have already split off to track gwion. But I am not going to go out wandering around in bandit and wolf country all alone. Thats how you get killed. I won't tell you not to do it of you choose to, but its suicidal.

Also, you'd probably have better luck just hunting down a regular riding pony.

OOC: Ah. With all the stealth and speed of scouts, I figured they were less noticeable and wouldn't need the protection of a trampling rhino. :) To each his own.

OOC: And yes, a riding pony would be a good second choice. The problem with riding ponies is that they have the morale check during every round of combat. A riding pony would let me travel as fast as the scouts but wouldn't help once in combat. /shrug. I don't have the gold for a riding pony anyway. About all I can afford is a rabbit -- the fluffy kind, not the killer rabbit of Caerbannog.

I am not sure you can even fight from a riding pony. If you tried I definitely like the moral roll every round.

About wandering around in the wild. Its been my experience with B/X and BFRPG and LL that a scouting trip without an encounter has been pretty rare. I can be stealthy but wolves and other creatures can smell much better than humanoids. And hiding at 90% is only if i don't move. Its hard to get from town to the river and back again without moving :) now if you meant all teh scouts go out and leave you in town, then thats doable.

If y'all are comfortable slowly crashing trough the forest and exploring story arcs serially, that's fine with me. :)

I am playing with the assumption that you do intend to leave town at some point so why not now. maybe the town will loan you and the militia man a horse to get you moving faster as well as escape the ambush faster as well.

Belle having watched and listened to the boys chat about "bait" for a goblin band leans forward I wonder what the goblins would think about an elven maiden standing watch near the signal fire. Of course said maiden would have to look rather like an easy target and she'd have to have some serious back up waiting close at hand. How about I stand out there looking all innocent and vulnerable with only my bow and a torch while another scout and a tank wait in the bushes nearby? If you guys can back me up I'll be the bait. I have a few things other than my bow that I can use to do some damage. She colors a little and tosses her hair to one side Just don't let me die out there.... maybe our mage can do something to help me also?

"Good idea, as long as you don't make yourself look too defenseless. Them goblins might smell a trap." Thinking for a moment, Sanzaru adds with a grin, "How about I wait inside the signal fire? I'll be a lot closer in case they rush you. Just don't set me on fire."

Belle smiles and laughs An anvil in a fire! Oh San that is an amazing idea! The goblins will never expect you to be in the signal fire. If you trust me not to set you on fire I trust you to come to my aid. She waves the bartender over (I'm assuming we're still there) Bring my smoldering anvil a stout ale, we'll drink to his fortitude!

"So lets set this plan in motion. First we need to find out if Eryl trusts Kerrywyn so that we can get Kerrywyn to buy some fish or produce from Gwion. While he is in the tavern making his delivery we talk about our plans to send a scout out to set up a stakeout of the river crossing to watch for raiding bandits."

(OOC: I still thinks its best to put 2 armored fighters as bait and let 3 rangers fire arrows in a surprise attack. And I don't know what mumford might want to do since he doesn't speak much :) I am afraid that a bait of only 1 might only send 2-3 enemy to take them out. I'd like to cut them down a bit before we meet them in their lair :) Perhaps with a sleep spell, if the attacking party is big enough he can knock them down a bit. But more than that I just want to get out there and get it on, so I don't care how we do it as long as we do it :).

OOC I agree. Lets get it set, get it staged and get it done.
