Pebbles listen to the talk and after repeated talk about splitting up to do different things he calls over the local bard. He slips him a coin and asks him to sing this song ...

Guys that last long post of mine was all cross-table-talk to the other PC's, not in-game speak.

Hywaywolf wrote:"so what kind of troops does this Gritsnak have. Are they all gnolls? How are they armed? Are they fierce fighters or do they normally win because they outnumber you?"
Eryl sighs, "He commands a mixture of gnolls, goblins, and several dire wolves. Their weapons and armor are rudimentary but their fierceness more than makes up for the lack of quality."
Woe wrote:"Eryl, you seem to have a combat background yourself. If we decide to make a stand here in the town, where do we start? We'd need to silence the spy. If we can, Gritznak won't know we're here. That might be all that is needed to turn the tide at the next raid. Do you have any leads on who the spy might be?"
"Unfortunately, we have several roads leading out of town and there is no one area that would really make a good bastion. If I had to, I would suggest drawing them into the town square and then surrounding them by blocking all the exits. We could post archers on the roofs of the building around the square and they could pick them off one by one as we hack away at them on the ground." As he talks you can feel his excitement building and you see a spark returning to his eye. "I really have no idea who might be feeding Gritznak information but he has to be getting information from somewhere or someone."

Gnolls, goblins and dire wolves? I hate dire wolves, they are a perversion that needs to be snuffed out. Belle looks around kind of embarrassed. Sorry about that. So could we conceivably get them into the town square and do like you mentioned Eryl? It does sound like a good idea and it'd give the town a real boost of morale. My only concern is how many will be killed or badly injured if the enemy force is very large. How many troops normally show up to collect the tribute?

Pebbles listens to the planning and then speaks up. "I, sirs and maams, am not a soldier. I am an adventurer. My skill set has grown around going places where others won't and poking my nose into places that might slice it off. I don't know about standing in a shield wall or trapping opponents in a square for a stand up fight. That is what would be done if the head guy had sent an army instead of putting out a bounty. I would prefer to go seek grisnack and take his head. The rest of his troops can be left to the town."

"How many? Well, as I said previously, he always seems to know how many he will need. Unless we find the spy and cut off his source of information you can be sure that he will show up with a force large enough to crush us."

So Eryl he always brings enough troops to solidify his demands...... we need to find that spy and either turn him or kill him. Belle turns towards Pebbles. I'll bet you half the gold in my pouch that you can't find the spy in two days. Belle pulls her pouch and counts out 15 gold. There, I'll give you 7 gold if you can do it, if not you and your little snooping nose owes me the same amount. And I'll give you an eighth of my elven smoke weed if you do it in less than a day. The smoke weed is aged for a decade before it's ready to light.... you'll love it.Belle does her best smile and wink for Pebbles. The smell alone will make people remember you and bring your deeds to mind with one sniff. Now she'll walk to the bar and order a round for the company with the one off gold piece she has in reserve. When she gets back to the table (I'm assuming we have a table) she'll motion to Mumford to come talk to her alone in whispered tones. Sweetie I know you are a magic user, but I need to know how much you can bring to the fight. Fireballs? Lighting bolts? Webs? Darts? What can we depend on you to do?

Pebbles is mighty intrigued by this elven smokeweed. And to get it for doing what he already planned to do is even better. His intention is to get a little more info about any strangers in town and more about the ruffian who watched us come in. then he was going to go out and either find the kind and follow him or stake out his abode.
