I wouldn't mind rerolling a MU I've been a bit concerned that with so many scouts (two) with such high movement rates, there's be nothing left for me to kill once I get my slow dwarf into melee range.

Its been my experience that there is always something for a melee person to engage even when you have a party of ranging people. Its just hard for them to wait for the other side to come to us so they rush out and get killed because everyone else is sitting back and ranging. :) You could always carry hand axes and throw them until they get into melee range. You get strength damage bonus for thrown items.

so do I :) I just didn't want to upset anyone's idea of balancing a party.

So let's see. So far we have a scout/druid a scout/archer a paladin and a scout/magic user. Would we be better served with Woe running a straight magic user? With all the ranged abilities and the melee ac bonus scouts get while dual wielding we might be better off as a "fast attack LRP" unit. If we take our time to scout out ahead and around us we may not have many melee situations.

Heck even another dual class scout/?? could be fun. Two scout/magic users? Scout/cleric? Meh, either way it'll be fun.

As a low HP player (scout, thief, mu, etc) I tend to use defensive fighting with the duel wield ac bonus when I end up in melee. That +5 to AC helps draw away melee opponents from the party fighters without getting me killed in the doing. If the situation is to bad, I can use a fighting withdrawal to get behind the fighter/s or escape the melee some other way.

Yeah I just went back and looked and you're probably correct. With a movement rate of 10' with that dwarf vs the 30' for the elves you'll fall behind quickly. Given that the scouts can fire out to 210' with a standard long bow, with modifiers of course, you could conceivably never get into melee range.

The flip side of that is when/if we end up in a cavern, dungeon or tower..... :)

Dwarf mage! :D

I'll redo Sanzaru and see if it fits better.

I can't play a scout for moral reasons. It just seems too OP -- all the goodies of both ranger and thief but at the pace of a cleric. Dwarf mage isn't allowed per the usual rules, so if Blazeguard would prefer something less odd I could happily go with a dwarf cleric.

Why dwarf? Because if everyone else is playing an elven scout, it'd be good to have something different just for the RP fun it'll allow. And in another board, I'm playing something close to a elven archer/mage, which is a bit close to scout/mu. And finally, you never know when a ruined tower might appear.

Woe, if you want to go with a dwarf cleric I'm cool with that.

I forgot clerics don't get spells until second level -- too many systems! That means even less healing available than the pally. I'll stick with my armored slug and hope we encounter a ruined tower or fall into a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
