There's barely any breeze at all ... it's a warm, still, sunny day. It's unlikely that a scent, or indeed smoke from a bonfire, would carry any great distance.

Unfortunately, that means that the smoke won't carry into the cave either.

Do we still want to give that a shot or does anyone have any other ideas?

We could switch it up a bit. Light the fire and when the bear comes out, pour oil on the bear?
