Buoyed by his successful strike, Filibert will reload his crossbow in preparation for another shot.

OK - as before the target percentage is 20%. jcm rolls ... 84 - another miss.

Being as close as he is to the edge of the circle, Marcus can't fail to hear the crowd's chortles and disparaging comments at his continued failure to land a blow on Targus.

Targus to complete Round 5 ...

Targus is going to attempt a shield bash to Marcus hoping to put him on the ground. (I'm not sure how to phrase that but what I want to do is set my center of gravity low to the ground and then slam my shield into Marcus to knock him off of his feet and prone for next rounds action, I don't think the shield will do more than a d2 of damage, I'm not looking to do a lot of injury just wanting him to be a better target for the next attack or have him out of the way in case Ms. Invisible Tankard shows up.) :D

OK, let's treat this as an 'Opposed Skill Test' that pits Targus's Force skill against Marcus's Force skill. In an opposed test, both characters roll against there relevant skill. Whoever gets the best result wins. A critical success beats a normal success; a normal success beats a fail; a fail beats a fumble. In the case of a tie, the highest roll wins (favouring the character with the higher skill). Opposed skill tests aren't included in the current BFQ supplement, but they're a typical feature of D100 systems. I'll add them as an optional rule for Release 3.

Targus rolls 09 against his Force skill (24%) - a success! Marcus roll 74 against his Force skill (20%) - a failure.

Targus clatters into Marcus and succeeds in knocking him to the ground. Marcus is uninjured, but downed.

Initiative for Round 6
Filibert: 5
Marcus: 5
Elena: 3
Targus: 1

Filibert and Marcus go first this round ...

Elena: HP 16/16; MP 13/17; XP: casting. *** Invisible ***
Filibert: HP 28/28; MP 1/1; XP: missile weapons.
Marcus: HP 7/12; MP 11/12; XP: casting. *** Shield activated until Round 9 ***
Targus: HP 17/17; MP 19/21. XP: force.

"This is really not going well." Marcus thinks as he scrambles to get on his feet, at the same time trying to put Targus between himself and Filibert.
