I wanted to start this topic for a few reasons. I wanted show the pieces I'm working on and to get your feedback. While I like getting positive feedback, I'm also interested in any feedback that will help me improve my art. So here I will show my process. I would like to know your thoughts and possibly make any corrections before I finalize each piece. I'm also interested if any other artist follows a similar process or if your methods are different.

Here is the preliminary drawing for the temple that stands on a rocky cliff that overlooks the sea in the CS2 The Dark Temple multimodule. Let me know what you think. The cliffs are done in ballpoint pen. The temple is in pencil at the moment. Water has not been added yet. I plan to move the smaller rocky islands further away from the beach. Do I need to make any other corrections?

Maybe consider adding some dark clouds in the sky, especially in the upper left. That can help force the viewer's eye to the temple. Even a couple of birds circling the temple would add some movement. Some waves splashing upward toward the temple will also push the eye in that direction.

Those are my thoughts, but as always, it is your illustration.

And it is wonderful so far, can't wait to see the finished product. I'd also post it in the Dark Temple forum.

Here's a little rendering I did with some thoughts I had. Please note that I am submitting this just as suggestions, not pretending to be an expert. It is not meant to be a final image, just some suggestions in trying to be helpful.

Obviously you can ignore this 100%. Again, I submit this not as ANY kind of criticism, just some thoughts.

I don't know, Teaman. Stylistically, I prefer the slight roughness of his pen drawing to the hazy cloudy fogginess you've added... I think the two effects are jarring together. I might suggest he add a streaky cirrus cloud or two in his existing style. But then, I also like the picture as is, no need to do anything (and in particular, no need to move those islands, they're fine where they are).

I wasn't suggesting he use the computer shading, that was just to show some greyscale options that he might add with his pencil/pen work.

But as always, the image belongs to the artist.

Sorry if I overstepped.

Oh, no overstepping. This is a discussion, it's cool. And I didn't get what you were doing, so thanks for explaining.
