Even a couple of birds circling the temple would add some movement. Some waves splashing upward toward the temple will also push the eye in that direction.

Those are my thoughts, but as always, it is your illustration.

And it is wonderful so far, can't wait to see the finished product. I'd also post it in the Dark Temple forum.
Why do I feel that artists think alike. You are right about the movement of the clouds and waves. I worked on it a little today while was at work. I angled the clouds and waves in the direction of the temple. I also considered adding hawks in the sky as that was part of one of the modules (giant hawks lair page 26). So your ideas were also the same as mine, so that tells me I'm heading in the right direction.

Glad to be of any help and that we were thinking along the same lines. It's going to be a great piece when it is done.

Solomoriah wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2020 9:04 am I don't know, Teaman. Stylistically, I prefer the slight roughness of his pen drawing to the hazy cloudy fogginess you've added... I think the two effects are jarring together. I might suggest he add a streaky cirrus cloud or two in his existing style. But then, I also like the picture as is, no need to do anything (and in particular, no need to move those islands, they're fine where they are).
I wasn't suggesting he use the computer shading, that was just to show some greyscale options that he might add with his pencil/pen work.

But as always, the image belongs to the artist.

Sorry if I overstepped.
I was considering actually inking this instead of doing it in ballpoint pen. I will post an updated picture but was considering doind some shading in photoshop but only slightly. More to added a little atmosphere (pun not intended) to the piece.

These are exactly the conversations I'm looking for as this is good feedback. Solomoriah opinion on the clouds are close to what I did today.

Thank you AlMan. I'm sure like most artists, I see it in my mind and then transfer it to paper. But if it were really that easy.

I have question for mainly other artists but also those who enjoy art. When I work on my art I listen to music and sometimes the music I listen to affects the art. So knowing this, I sometimes listen to music that I know will enhance whatever I'm working on so I can capture the mood of the piece. To understand what I mean, while working on the cliffs picture, I was listening to the extended theme to Stranger Things. If I can capture the clouds correctly, I think it changes the art into a reflection of the song. For me, while I was working on it and listening to the music, the clouds were rolling by and somehow it was night. Or maybe it's all in my head. Tell me what you think, give it a listen to the song while looking at this picture. Do you see the clouds moving?
