That's gonna look amazing as a cover piece! Next will be Saga of the Giants and a few others with Al covers ;)

Al, just picked up a couple Derwent "Onyx" pencils. I got the darkest one they make (labelled, of all things, "DARK"). They claim it sharpens a little better than charcoal. I've found it is less smudgey than charcoal (I like charcoal pencils, but I end up making a mess).

I'm pleased with it for shading, just thought I'd pass it along.

Also, I use my program (paint.net, it's free) and adjust the levels to get my darks darker and whites whiter. I discovered yesterday that if I do it a second time, I can get even better contrast.

Al,

The Onyx is a graphite pencil, so it is not quite as dark as a black colored pencil.

It's advantages so far are that it is easy to erase and a really nice pencil overall.

With a little adjusting of the levels in paint.net, I can get it dark.

Hi Al, do you have higher-res versions of these available?
AlCook wrote:These are some older pics I did for various OSR things- again, as long as it's being used for Basic Fantasy, they are yours to use.

Those are all so great. I like the door breach one... the action pieces always seems better than the portrait/pose things.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Great stuff all around, Al. Where did they appear before? I'm sure I've seen them, but maybe it is here.

Chii- I'll have to see if I can find them. I don't think I have the files for those (just what is hosted on photobucket), but I'm pretty sure they are somewhere in the "art bin". I'll see about fishing them out and rescanning them.
