Al Cook's pictures for Basic Fantasy
Re: Al Cook's pictures for Basic Fantasy
I use a variety of things:
*Brushes and a dip pen with india ink - These are my favorite and give me the best results.
*A Brush marker similar to the pentel one, and sometimes a Micron marker if I don't feel like dragging out the india ink.
Sometimes i just scan my pencils and ink them digitally using Krita. However, I ca't get the same quality of lines yet using my Wacom tablet. I just can't seem to move my hand as comfortably as when drawing traditionally. You know what I mean, when the ink is flowing really well, it's like a little slice of heaven.
Now you've put the bug in my mind to draw some. But that's a good thing.

here's one for Saga of the Giants or any other BF project:). For some reason my photo editor isn't working good. Coming out darker than I'd like.
Re: Al Cook's pictures for Basic Fantasy
Al, they just get better and better.
Do you ever use an ink outline and then pencil shading? Just wondering.

Re: Al Cook's pictures for Basic Fantasy
Al, I'll fix up the colors when I get the final scans, so don't worry about that. I have to do the same thing for just about everyone's artwork... scanners are a pain.

@teaman- inks and then a black colored pencil for the shading on all the shaded ones. A regular pencil doesn't seem to get dark enough.
@Solo- thanks- very appreciated.

That color piece will grace the new cover for BF2 Fortress, Tomb, and Tower.
Which will have all the in-print modules wearing dark covers... finally. Thanks to Al for his fine work!

Thanks, I'll sharpen up my black colored pencil and maybe even crank a couple things out this afternoon, Al Cook Style.AlCook wrote:@teaman- inks and then a black colored pencil for the shading on all the shaded ones. A regular pencil doesn't seem to get dark enough.
