From there it's north to the Stonefall mines, south to Lakeford, or East through the Goblin lands. Or you can follow the old road West, if you want to get into the Grim Hills. Nothin' that way but ruins and monsters."
What do we know about these places?

Lakeford and Stonefall are mentioned in the setting notes. Stonefall would be better described as a Dwarven settlement rather than a mine. Humans often have difficulty recognizing the differences. Those of you with grapevines had heard that an expedition of Dwarves was headed there to try and resettle and reopen the Lodes.

"Goblin lands" is a little simple. "Goblin-infested woods that tend to prey upon hapless merchants and travelers, and really cut into the bandit business" is a bit more exact.

The Grim hills are pretty much as described: ruins and monsters. There are legends of a city lost in the hills - though how you lose a city is rather hard to explain.

Well, the Old Crossroads was just mentioned again. Do we want to head that direction and see what we scare up?
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

I am good with that... I still cannot really figure out what we are supposed to do around this place yet. I don't know if I am just being slow in my thinking or overlooking some clue.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

It all looks pretty simple to Hamish. Someone charmed us, made us come here, and incarcerated us. They should have a chance to explain before they die... but he's not hung up about the whole explaining bit.
