Selene gathers the picks and whatever loose nails she can find. She rushes over to the lock and starts working on it.

Hamish gives each bar a shake, then turns his attention to whichever one seemed the weakest. He's at least as interested in having an iron bar in his hands to use on whomever might trouble him as he is in breaking out.

The lock proves to be more difficult than expected with the tools on hand. If you had a proper kit, you're sure you could open it.

Hamish finds a couple of likely candidates, and gives the first a mighty yank. With a sharp "Spang!" the binding snaps, and a shower of cheap mortar comes down as the bar comes free. It'll be tight, but it should be passable. taking out another would make it an easy exit for you.

After careful consideration, you think the space opened up by the burly guy in banded mail looks the most promising.

You hear some shouting from the floor above, followed by a loud clanging thud after Hamish pulled his bar free. The kobold looks excited and nervous.

Seeing the quick work his fellow prisoners have made of the enclosure, Galen quickly scans the area outside the cell for any storage areas that might hold their gear, spare weaponry, or otherwise something to improvise arming themselves with.

Soon as our conga-line of escapes allows, Galen will take his turn to move out of the enclosure. "I would have tried to convince our captors to release us, but I suppose this will suffice too."

ooc: anything that can be used as weapons around... preferring something thrown over melee?

Muddle ducks through the opening before anyone else can move and hurriedly snatches up the crossbow, then hides behind a large barrel under the stairs. "ask the thing in the cage where our weapons are!" he calls out

Seeing that the space is inadequate for his muscular frame, Hamish sets to work trying to remove another bar, choosing whichever seems most likely to come out easily.

At his comrade's suggestion, Galen speaks to the Kobold (in Goblini), "heya, where do they keep our gear? Best to know that your answer may have a direct effect upon your immediate future... "

(Does it look like she can make it through comfortably? If so, she'll put away the lockpicks and slip out of the bars. If not, she continues working on the lock.)

Looking around the room, does it look like there is another way out or is the stairs the only exit?

A quick rundown on what is not nailed down in the cellar:
Two torches
an oil lamp
a length of wood (like a club)
5 wine bottles in various states of emptiness
6 casks of wine (according to the Trade Mark) under the stairs
two stools
a lumpy sack
an empty barrel (the table)
A collection of pieces and trinkets on the "table", including a symbol of Fyodor Fromme
straw
A crossbow (in Muddle's hands)
A long iron bar (in Hamish's hands)

"In the big room, most likely. Tieg said they aren't splitting it up for some reason. Am I getting out?" He seems rather snarky for a desperate prisoner.

The next bar doesn't give as readily, but loosens from the ceiling enough to shift and make a Hamish-sized opening.

Muddle spies a mostly empty case of bolts on the floor near the crossbow - looks like five more bolts.
There is a sizeable hatch in the ceiling, most likely for winching in large barrels. It's about 8 feet up from the ground, and almost adjacent to the top of the stairs. Other than that and the stairs, you don't see any other exits.

You hear shouting and running feet from above, headed for the stairs. You hear the other guard from before shouting: "If they managed to make a mess down there while you weren't watching..."
