Chapter 1: Wherein the Protagonists Meet at an Inn

[Joe the Rat]

From behind the cook Muddle casts the spell 'ignite' just behind the cooks neck such that he feels the tingle but not the full on burn.

He doesn't seem to notice Muddle's brief prayer, but does notice the burning sensation on his neck.
"Ah! Opening the door, Ma'am!"

His newfound enthusiasm in obedience leads to an over-exuberant pull on the right door, wrenching it open a good two feet. Sunlight pours in, sending the kobold running for cover behind Hamish. Taking a second to let your eyes adjust, what you see outside is a simple yard, with bold shocks of grass making a valiant attempts to reclaim the over-trodden dirt. From this angle you catch a glimpse of the end of what is presumably the stable. An old wagon is parked about 30 feet away. At first glance, you don't see anyone moving outside, but the snorts and clomps of unsettled horses can be heard nearby.

Saeloria gives an imperceptible nod to Muddle behind the cook's back in thanks. "Do you have any idea when you are expecting your bosses back?"

Galen smiles at the success of the ruse and moves up into the light with the others, happy to be out of the makeshift prison.

Hamish moves to the door and looks out carefully.

Clarification: We have not as yet recovered our weapons? Not that I'm not cool with the iron bar...

Muddle nods back to Saeloria then moves to the opposite side of the door from the burly human and looks out to the other side of the yard. He'll wait there to see if there is anyone out there with the horses he can hear stomping around in the yard.

(OOC: no we haven't got our weapons yet. If we are going to fight it out in the common room to get them, its probably a good idea to make sure there aren't enemies in the yard to attack us from behind.)

"Should be back before sundown... depends on how hunting goes."

Hamish moves to the door and looks out carefully.

Muddle nods back to Saeloria then moves to the opposite side of the door from the burly human and looks out to the other side of the yard. He'll wait there to see if there is anyone out there with the horses he can hear stomping around in the yard.

The horse sounds seem to be coming from the stable itself. Someone in there isn't happy. From the door, you do not see anyone outside.

this would be a good time to retrieve our weapons.

Selene slips through the doors.

[Hywaywolf]

Muddle nods approvingly, "Brave fool, go forth and draw out the ambush." He then gets ready with the crossbow to defend Selene from behind the cover of the door.
