Recapping the scene:
The party, having freed themselves from a bandit's den, flee south to the town of Lakeford - about a week's travel - for resupply and reorientation.

At least until we get further away from the town. We're still not sure where our captors are so the fewer clues we give them the better."

The forest is a strong and heavy old growth forest, with relatively gentle hills and the occasional outcrop of rocks. Most of the ground cover here is old leaves and needles, with a few stubborn ferns and bushes, and the occasional stretch of grass where the woods begin to break for a clearing.

Though the woods block much of the sky, the golden hues and growing shadows suggest the sun will be setting shortly. Somewhere to the northeast, you expect that the Bandit leader, Red, will soon discover your disappearance. More worrisome is the fact that between twilight and the canopy of the woods, it will soon become difficult for Hamish (or Bill) to see the 'trail' you are following.

What are your plans?

Wildlands, the woods between Grenwood and Lakeford.

Selene looks for a spot with good concealment and a good view of the likely approaches Red and Co. would take.

Continuing on as light allows, you keep an eye out for defensible camp options. Two sites look particularly likely: A thick run of bramble and brush making a rough half-dome of twined barrier, open to the south, and an upthrust of granite, where several massive slabs have tumbled to make a rough cave, opening to the east. There is abundant dry brush for fire if you so desire. It is unlikely there will be rain.

Hamish says, "The rocky area looks good to me," and walks off that way whether or not anyone else follows him.
