Point taken. I don't think of "splitting" a turn as being anything significant, so it never occurred to me to write it down.

Was the "move then attack, or attack then move, or move then move" official? I seem to remember discussion about when you can attack and when you can move, with the main point being you can't split your move around your attack.

In the Core Rules, you may only move before attacking, not after. You may, of course, run your game to suit yourself; I'm just talking about the rules as I wrote them.

perhaps, in spirit, the fighting defensively is really a moving defensively. the intent of the action is to allow the pc to safely move away from combat without
etting down his denses.
