So THAT'S what that was...

I'm not sure you "need" the Showcase to get feedback, but I'm not concerned by having complete but not entirely finished items there. It is a central location.
If I followed my instincts, there would be no Workshop. But I know we need it, so we have it.

You may be correct. If the intent of the showcase is to be a workshop for approved authors then I withdraw my complaint, counselor.

Being an approved author is not carte blanche to put all your stuff there. Incomplete things, things you haven't thought out well, etc. should be in the Workshop until you have them hammered out. It's the Showcase... if you aren't comfortable with your work being presented in our 2nd most prominent location, then it probably doesn't go there.
But... it's a discretion thing. Fiat. I'm giving you a bit of fiat there, and I expect you to use it sensibly. If you go a little outside the lines, I'm not going to swat you, and if you're timid about posting there, I may encourage it.
As I said in the first place, if I give you a Showcase upgrade, I trust you. Post responsibly.

To be clear, what I was talking about wasn't about trust. It was about what is the purpose of the Showcase. I think you have explained it well. Thank you.
Now, onward to discussing something different than whether someone has the right to post what they want on the showcase (which wasn't really what my original topic was but seemed to stray there. This was touched on earlier, and that is peer review. I know that Chris doesn't require it, but why would you WANT to post something on the BFRPG showcase that hadn't been peer reviewed. Even the best of us don't catch all of our grammatical errors, typos, misspellings, etc. Or someone might have an idea that improves on something you didn't know needed improving.

My take on the whole thing is that Workshop is about internal ideas - things that aren't fleshed out, buggy as hell, and are not usable as-is. Showcase is about presenting ideas externally - telling the world "Hey, we've got something here to look at, drive it around the block and see what happens."

. The reason I am more apt to say NO is because I don't have 25 years of game experience and haven't grown bored by the simple approach. I consider myself the voice of the newbie.
I also know that I am nearly the least useful person on this board when it comes to providing content. I don't write rules or new monsters or create modules or supplements. I just don't have the experience and knowledge to put forth something useful. Where I see my value is that I have been a constant and consistent irritant in Solomoriah's nether regions since 2006 when I first found BFRPG. All I can offer of value is my perspective from long term exposure to the goodness that is BFRPG.
2006?! And you still consider yourself a newbie? Heck compared to me you're a grizzled veteran.
Also, not sure if this is the right place, but I would like to offer to do editing for anybody that would like me to look over their work. Like Hyway, I'm quite new to this and find it very difficult to be 'creative' but I would like to help out in a capacity that I feel I could contribute.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

I am a newbie in actual game hours played compared to the people contributing all this awesome material to BFRPG. I haven't played a whole lot of actual FTF gaming since 2006 and most of that was with my kids.

I would SERIOUSLY take him up on this! He has done some proofreading for me and has done a fantastic job!

A fresh and newly look and opinion is always a good thing, sometimes one makes thing thinking that those who will use it have the same experience/background/knowledge that on and that can make things difficult for the newcommers

I have to make a "me too", indeed I had got the idea that you first went trough the workshop.
BTW: in the forum we should always put a link to the download file (or you have to search it in the downloads section... and this take me to the second point.
in fact what I would like is an index of contents in the downloads section, something with expanding list
core rules
monsters
adventures
aids
classes and races
spells and magics
character sheets
compilation
if you select the adventures button (for example) you get a list of all adventures:
core rules
adventures
.....aa1
.....aa2
.....aa3
.....
aids
classes and races
spells and magics
character sheets
compilation
and so on
