Psionics
Re: Psionics
Well played but people never seem to be in the middle ground about it. They either like or hate em. Hate due to thinking they shouldn't be in fantasy and like, just cuz

Re: Psionics
This is an idea based on another free RPG
Characters gains levels on different Disciplines and each level allows training in special related powers:
Disciplines & Powers (I won't list every possible power, just 2 for each area for reference):
-Extra Sensory Perception:
--Astral Projection
--Precognition
-Mind Over Mind
--Telepathy
--Mind Control
-Mind Over Body
--Healing
--Increased Strength
-Mind over Matter
--Telekinesis
--Pyrokinesis
-Mind over Magic
--Dispel Magic
--Magic Barrier
The system can use the spell progression for power use per day and the character level hill give points for learning/increasing disciplines, powers can be learned as spells or automatically like 3.5 sorcerer's spells.
Or just treat them as spells and forget about the Disciplines...
Another idea that I like is to use the spell per day progression but instead of using spells levels it's divided by Discipline, the player choose an initial Discipline and when advancing in level will choose others.
The character learns and uses powers as above.
Or learns powers based on the amount given by the table and use them with a % roll, power points, uses per day, etc.

Re: Psionics
The psionics system from Carcosa is unparalleled in its simplicity and ease of use.
Re: Psionics
I have not seen that... is the system available somewhere? I'm not paying for a setting just to get a subsystem, but if it is free somewhere I would love to take a look.Aplus wrote:The psionics system from Carcosa is unparalleled in its simplicity and ease of use.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?
Re: Psionics
The basic psionics system can be seen here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iTp ... fwx7g/edit
Here is an example of a class I made based off of the system:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B2qlP_ ... TGlYVno2UQ
It's very easy to take the basic principles in the system and tweak them however you'd like. For example I've toyed with the idea that the cleric - a class I've never been overly fond of - could be replaced by a psion class. You just take the cleric, remove the cleric spell casting and undead turning abilities and give them psionic powers instead.

Fairly simple, but certainly needs more powers.Aplus wrote:The basic psionics system can be seen here:

Re: Psionics
Did anyone ever come up with a final Psionic system for Basic Fantasy? I thought I had seen a supplement on Psionics somewhere, but now there I can't find it.
Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?
