I've run haunted keep 1 1/2 times and my girls ran it with their friends once. Its pretty fun.

Haunted keep? hmm, have to go through my archives and dragonfoot to see if I have it or is it here on this site?
Knights of the Written Word 2 is a friendly Roll20 community created for those that prefer written text games or have difficulty with voice games (for physical, mental, emotional, or technical reasons).

There are two similarly named modules. The Haunted Tower (URL previously posted) and The Haunted Keep (http://www.dragonsfoot.org/php4/archive ... fileid=234).

If I remember correctly this one is actually the haunted Tower from the back of the basic edition D&D but fleshed out a bit more with a second tower and more creatures.

Here is teh deal. TSR did B/X and put a minor module named The Haunted Keep in the back of it. Some folks took that minor module and fleshed out the other side along with two small Guard room sections. They also called it the Haunted Keep.

Solomoriah created The Haunted Tower for his daughter. Its nothing like the Haunted Keep. But its fun to run.

The it should be easy to tweak it and include it into a beginner's pack if someone wanted to do it and got solo's permission to do so.

Ack. No, I'm afraid it's not so easy; it was a collaborative project, and I'd have to get an agreement from all the contributors before it could be used this way. Sorry.

They are almost done with the first dungeon. They have about four more rooms left. I have to decide which ending I'm going to use, as this dungeon has 3 alternative endings. The thieves are at level 3 now and the fighter at level 2. One of them actually went negative this go around, and had to be healed. Luckily, they had one of the healing potions left. After they're done with the dungeon, I'll start slowly introducing them to the game world. I think one of them were asking for a wilderness adventures, so I'm going to roll with that to give them a taste of the other side of the game. They actually did some roleplaying by parlaying with a group of Goblins.

We finally finished the "Old Island Fortress" today. The youngest wants to go on a wilderness adventure next. I'll have to cook something up for them. I took them through the second ending, with the "Painted Warrior". I also switched the ghouls out for a pair of Owlbears. The wife didn't want me introducing them to undead things just yet. Curiously, she had no problem with a warrior stepping out of a mural to attack them. She still thought it was creepy, though. We had fun. One of the NPC's were knocked to -6 in two swipes, so the cleric had to heal him after the battle, bringing him up to 0. They chose to rest overnight to allow the cleric to heal the guy again the next day. I actually rolled no encounters for them. Bad dice... bad, bad dice!!!

I'm going to have to introduce some kind of bad guy for them to chase after. Some kind of recurring character that gives them headaches from time to time. I think they might enjoy that aspect of the game.
