Well I'll be doing more and more. Maybe that should be the next thing I do....

Open Source is about scratching your own itch. If you want something, you create it; then you share it, so others who also wanted it can use it, and as it is Open Source, they can even improve it and share the improvements with you.

Many times, someone will start a thread and say "We should do this." Even if many people agree that it is a good idea, it will not happen until someone stops saying "we should do this" and actually does it.

In other words, asking or telling never works to start a project. Sharing is the only thing that will work.
Certainly. I'm not sure why you're quoting me, though. If I had had time, I would have done it, just like I did the Beginner's Essentials, Magic-User Options, copyediting on The Chaotic Caves, and errata for the Core Rules. I don't come here just to say, "Wouldn't it be nice if someone else did X?" I contribute whenever I can.

As it happens, when I started the starter set thread I had planned to make it, or at least be a significant contributor. Then life changed and I no longer had time. I linked it here in hopes that some of the previous discussion might prove useful to anyone considering it. Looking at it now, the thread is a rather anemic. Even so, I was trying to be helpful, not ask or tell someone else to do it.

Sorry, brave knight, not leveling criticism at you directly, just trying to get others to understand how this works.

I should have thicker skin. Your "scratch your own itch" speech is worth repeating from time to time.

It always makes me wonder what's going on in these peoples heads, the whole nature of classic role playing is, from my perspective at least, that if you don't like a particular ruling or if there's a ruling you'd like to have but it is not included within the game then make it up and include it yourself. I mean come on it's not as if there are rule police bugging your dinning room table.

Solomoriah wrote:Artistically, the book is nearly perfect. It has the exact theme and style that I wanted. The only thing I'd change if I could would be to get a few more monster pictures in there. But I'm fine with it as is.
Since I had replied in another thread about a new harpy pic... Are there certain monsters you want illustrated/updated/changed, or all of them? I will certainly spend some time coming up with some draft images and getting feedback towards some final works to send in.

Any monster lacking an illustration would be welcome; those with public domain images would also be okay. However, all the solicited artwork I already have stays as is.
