It Takes a Village

Post Sun Jul 01, 2012 7:31 pm

To make a village!

So I had this idea last night and thought I would share it. See towns and villages are an important part of any RP, as my friends here are well aware of no doubt. However it seems that it is rather hard to come by pre-made towns and villages. So my idea was that maybe as a site community we make some sort of basic fantasy village and add it to the downloads. You know a sort of sample village that can be dragged and dropped where any given GM needs it.

So essentially we each take part of a the village like a certain shop or group of NPC's, write them up ourselves, and then add them to the overall village. Of course we would all collaborate on whatever is added and make sure certain standard is enforced.

So what do you think guys, want to pool our efforts and make something everyone can use?

That sounds like a really cool idea. I always have trouble coming up with stuff but I would be willing to help with spell-checking, formatting, etc.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

OK. I will lend a hand in a portion.

After we get a few such establishments/noteworthy people/sites, we should get somebody to start some sort of map.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Cool map! That would be a good one to use.

I had an idea or two for an establishment. I like that people like this idea, it sounded like it could be fun when i thought of it.

I'd be happy to pitch in a bit as well.

I have a few ideas. One was a bakery shop, the guard lieutenant and his gang of "deputies", and the local rich eccentric simply known as Citizen Wilkes (WoW references are fun). Anyone have any ideas off the top pf their heads?

How about a Gaston-like (from Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast) NPC?
Skilled, popular, and conceited.

A village champion. Nice.

Probably need some sort of mercantile - even if it's nothing more than a farm village, they probably have some trade coming in and through.

There has to be somebody that follows the party around saying "Heya... " then asking something really innane.
