There's a project on kickstarter right now for a game called Dungeon World. You can download the entire book right now broken into chapters (albeit in XML format so it's a bit hard to read). I've been checking it out and there is a lot of good stuff in there. As an inexperienced DM I found a lot of good advice in the DM section and a lot that I think I can apply to my game. The information may be old hat to a lot of you but much of it was new to me and I'm seriously thinking of backing it simply for that reason alone.
Has anyone else checked it out or heard of this game before?

The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

Sounds familiar. Was their anything new and or interesting inside? I am doing a lot of thinking about DMing lately and any sort of new information or perspective is welcome at this point.

A lot of it was new or maybe just put a little different perspective on it that I could really relate to. This was the first I had seen it so I'm not sure what has changed or what they've added but it looks like a cool game. I'm thinking it might work really well with my kids as it has that old-school, free-form aspect to it. The way they describe it is more of a conversation than having strictly defined turns or rounds, etc.

Interesting. I have read quite a few narrative games recently trying to find something new and different to bring to the classical level/class game. The idea of conflict over combat was one idea that has really stuck with me. Battling your foe through force of will alone is a neat concept.
