You are right, but AI writing has been submitted, while making a statement for one, why not cover both at the same time and be done?

AI art has won an art contest. It's not a theoretical question anymore.

When was this? And what contest was it? I must admit that I'm not super up-to-date on drama in general.

Edit: speaking of art, I have been considering posting one or two of my drawings. I'm still pretty novice, and I don't have any way of scanning them, so they probably wouldn't be fit for BFRPG, but it would be good to get some feedback anyhow.

I'm in a few groups on DeviantArt and every single day about 3 different accounts post AI art to one of my groups, EVERY day, AI art is flooding the actual art at a rate of about 6:1 which I would only be mildly annoyed by, but it all looks the same, even when it's supposed to be different characters

Oh, now I remember. Thanks for the link.

Getting a closer look at the art itself, one can 100% tell it's not made by a human. The humanoid figures are oddly distorted, and the whole thing is very surreal. Still, I think it's impressive what AI can do, and it probably has its place, but there's definitely a point to be made about the ethics of it. Not really a debate I have the knowledge or mental energy for, but it's a worthwhile topic.

Something I learnt by being an drawing and illustration student (not a very diligent one if you look at how I draw haha) is that some "artists" are "efectivists" they get the job done in a way that looks good, but if you know where to look, you'll find errors of all type.
That's what happens with AI, it does some impressive stuff on the surface, but the longer you look at it, the more quantity you look, or if you know what to look, it starts to fall apart.

As far as I'm concerned the biggest problem with it is that it makes weird chimeric images made up of complete stolen elements of the art it was "trained" with, it's not inspired or copying, but actually duplicating, without attribution even, entire parts of existing art and combining it with other parts stolen from elsewhere. AI art is like NFT's without even trying to disguise that it's just art theft like NFT's try.

I may be overly sensitive, as I've found some of my own art included in 2 things posted onto Deviant Art
