Notes and Organization

Post Mon Mar 05, 2012 8:45 pm

I've got a couple of questions regarding organizing and keeping track of the hoard of information that can accumulate while running a campaign.

What do you use to keep track of stuff (I'm thinking more of campaign, NPC, background info as opposed to in-game)?
I've been doing some research and have found lots of suggestions. John from Roleplaying Tips recommends MyInfo but that is a paid program. I have MS OneNote so I am currently trying to set that up and see if I can get that setup the way I like it.
Do the Linux users have anything similar that you use?
How do you organize your information?

Any tips, suggestions, or hints that you have found work for you?
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

I am old fashioned. I just keep piles of random scribblings around in paper form. I never get around to trying to compile them into a computer... surprising, I suppose, because I am so computer oriented in most everything else.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Yep, old fashioned here too. Spend a couple of dollars, buy a plastic folder with plastic sleeves and keep everything in there. I find it so much easier to leaf through a folder than try to find things in electronic format. The last few modulesI have run from laptop, but its just not as quick to flick a page and find what you want.
