Queen of the Demonweb Pits and other such
Hey BFRPG Community,
Has anyone worked on, or thought about, tacking Queen of the Demonweb Pits onto Saga of the Giants as a conversion?
Thoughts, suggestions, please? Thank you all!

Re: Queen of the Demonweb Pits and other such
I was always hoping JDNeal was going to continue his inspired by modules with the underdark and yes the final bit.
That said, long ago I did an alternate final set of adventures. Instead of Drow, used Githyanki outposts warring against Ilithids (characters popping up in middle of conflicts), ultimately ending up using an old dragon magazine module in Astral plane Fedifensor. But never got to final events with Gith Queen that was planned.
Unfortunately, long lost notes. Remember fondly, but was probably less epic than my mind remembers, as i was still a kid when we did this.

Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Saga of the Giants is an homage, but not a clone, and this was by design as I understand it.
Also, most of what Smoot just said would have to be heavily redone since it violates all kind of Product Identity. That would be the other reason it hasn't been done.

Yes, the final few modules would have been really problematic to try to stick to.
Drow = product identity
Lolth = product identity
Kuo-toan = product identity
Even my alt-version from years ago...
Gith (both varieties) = product identity
Ilithid/Mind-Flayers = product identity
Even if you went with other deep dwelling folks (for the D1-3 module inspirations)
Duergar = product identity
Deep Gnomes = product identity
as are most of the Underdark races/monsters.
So yes, the whole kit-kaboodle concept needs a major re-think to become viable... not impossible, but a major creative effort to avoid copyright confusion, and therefore might not even seem like the same sort of homage due to the big differences.

Drow are just elves.
I already have too many gods, so not missing Lolth at all.
For Kuo-toan I use Deep Ones. They're not identical, but close enough.
Gith? Weren't those extraplanar?
We have Thulids in field guide one.
Btw, it seems like Tharizdun was supposed to be the god behind the whole thing initially but Lolth was developed instead along the way.
It feels like my players are still years away from being ready to face what lies down there.

Wow.... thank you all so much for these replies! Didn't think about product ID and legal issues like that of course.
Smoot.... that's really cool sounding though, and yes, JD would likely do a wonderful job, in homage, as Chris said.
Seven, yes, your ideas sound cool! Never thought about those other Field Guide goodies to replace with. Thnx! Ya'll are just I'll have to work on it as my players eventually get.... if they even survive the Saga. He-he

For the record, Drow, Duergar, and Svirfneblin are NOT product identity; they are all in the SRD.
On the other hand, Ilithid, Gith, and Kuo-Toan definitely are.

Re: Queen of the Demonweb Pits and other such
Right, but I don't know if I'd use Drow specifically for my evil underground elves.
Black skin isn't necessary. I'd imagine them more sheet white, given the life without light.
Also, Faerie Fire is a bit awkward, since it's not in the basic list.
And the spider thing is arbitrary.
I see much opportunity to break free of the mould here.
That's the true magic of that module, fighting a novel enemy, right?

Oh, I am not saying you *should* use the Drow. I am simply saying you *could*.
I was just pointing out that those three entries are not Product Identity. That's all. No meaning beyond that single point.

We have the Dwarrow in the Field Guide 2 who is very similar to the Duergar.
Who is online
