Campaign Management Tools

Post Mon Jan 30, 2012 4:47 pm

Anybody besides me use The Keep? I have been using it for Teluria and have found it works really well for tracking everything. I've actually transferred the PDF versions of the rules into the tool for quick reference during play and have organized the charts as well.

Not shilling, but I do wonder if anybody else has found a tool they like.

I've been using Obsidian Portal.. I looked at the Keep but there was something about it that I didn't like.. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was..

I looked at Obsidian Portal, but have a thing about storing all my campaign information on the cloud.

The only complaint I've had with the Keep so far is that it doesn't integrate with maptools all that well, but I think I can work around that.

I'll also put in a good word for Obsidian Portal - very easy to use, sensibly organised, and it looks great. It works really well on my smartphone as well.

A few minor things:

1. Basic Fantasy isn't one of the recognised systems. Not a big problem by any means, but it would be nice to spread the word. I did put in a request for it to be added, but so far that request has gone ignored and unacknowledged.

2. I can imagine that a pdf handling capability would be quite useful.

3. To get all the features and use it to its full capacity, you have to pay a subscription. But that's fair enough I suppose - it's a good service.

#1 What is sad is some that are supported I've never heard of. Qin:The Warring States???

#2. My laptop is my 'gaming screen' so I always have access to PDFs either locally or through Dropbox.

#3 Yeah I've been considering the premium version just for the ability to have multiple maps. Now I just use one and link everything else back to my Comcast storage site.

I discovered Epic Words (www.epicwords.com) which is virtually identical to Obsidian Portal but I put in a request to add Basic Fantasy and they had it in the list within a day so as far as the customer service goes it sounds like they are way ahead of OP. I know it's a pain to transfer stuff once you've started on something but this is just another option in case someone is looking for something new.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.
