I noticed the monsters in your conversion have fewer HP and seem to do less damage than in the 5e D&D book. As a newbie to BFRPG, I'm wondering: Is that typical? If I want to do my own conversions, should I be reducing HP and damage for most monsters?

Good gawds, yes. There has been a LOT of power creep between the era BFRPG mimics (1981) and today.

What Solomoriah said. Most mook monsters in OSRs should stick to 1-8 hit points, with d4-d8 tops as the damage ranges. d6+2 is downright beastly to throw at OSR characters in multiples.

Um... not really talking about the difference between 1d8 and 1d6+2 (average 4.5 vs. 5.5, not that big a deal). But damage figures are higher, which matters more, and as you jump up levels/hit dice all the numbers climb faster.

Thanks - this is what I suspected! Great to hear the confirmation.
