Turn Undead: How Often?
Turn Undead: How Often?
How often can clerics attempt to turn undead? Once per round, per encounter, can they retry on a failure?
EDIT: My answer is on page 51. Please feel free to delete this post.
Thank you.

I didn't want to start another thread so, do you use a turn/time tracker? I'm looking for one for tonight's (possible) session.
Any recommendations?

Re: Turn Undead: How Often?
Do you just mean keeping track of time in general? I use, or have used a combination of these in the past.
The time table was the first iteration and I found it handles all time scales fine, but that it often fell short since I kept a calendar for long term things already, and needed more room for short term things.
The Time Tracker just has groups of 6 boxes (meant for tracking turns) to tick off with space for notes and reminders between lines.
The Turn Tracker is a "clock" with 6 regions. I connected a "hand" to it with one of those brass folding fasteners. There's enough room in each region to put notes and reminders. obviously this can only keep track of things up to one hour ahead, so I use it in combination with the time tracker to keep track of longer term events. It's a little redundant, but it works best for me...

Thanks for that.
Yes, I'm looking for something that aids me in keeping track of light sources, and general time.

sometimes I put these icons on my clock to help remind me when different things need checking or wear off.

Re: Turn Undead: How Often?
I'm hijacking this post about turn undead, because it felt weird to make a new post for a simple quesiton.
Is the Turn undead table wrong on page 50?
The example and the monster entry says wights are 3HD Monsters. The Turn Undead table says they are 4HD.
Haven't found anything with the search function in the forum.

Re: Turn Undead: How Often?
1- Wights are in fact 3HD monsters
2- The HD and undead on each column of the Cleric vs Undead don't correspond to each other, for example, vampires are turned on the Vampire column, regardless of their HD.
(For other undead that aren't turned as another undead, you can, as a house rule to treat them as the lower amount of HD available to them, +1HD if they have special abilities (an asterisk on their HD).

Re: Turn Undead: How Often?
The hit dice are given only for "novel" undead that don't fit the normal model. The name always takes precedence, i.e. Wights are turned as Wights, not as 3 hit die undead. I added hit dice mainly because so many new undead were showing up in the Field Guides and not all of them declared what kind of undead they were turned as.
