This guy is doing an interesting series solo playing this module from CS1 using the GURPS system. I've watched them all so far and have found his band of random townfolk and their improvised weaponry pretty compelling.

I have also started recording some solo game play using the "BFRPG Hexcrawl Adventures" supplement candidate. Good fun as always. I hope it can serve as a (low production quality) tutorial/demonstration of how you can use the hexcrawl procedures.
