Back after the Deracho.

I don't know how much news covered this, but Iowa to Ohio was hit by an inland hurricane, also called a deracho. I finally got Internet access today and just wanted to check in. Last Monday (8/10/2020) the storm hit in my town, wind speeds in town were clocked at 112 mph. Many trees were toppled, including one in my yard that landed on my neighbor's house, the trailer court I live in is responsible for removing the tree (which should be soon). Several limbs and a power line landed on my roof, one of the holes leaked enough to ruin my wife's wedding dress and some of her high school graduation cards she has kept for over forty years. The electric company finally showed up on Thursday to remove the power line and allow us to get the limbs off the top of the house. Once the tree is cleared out I should be able to get the yard cleaned up.

Once I get over this, and get the insurance and yard cleared up, I may be able to start looking at what has been turned in. If any of the others on the board have said anything about this wish them well and be safe. All of you stay safe too.

Have done. As we live just one state south, I was aware Iowa was hard hit; what I did not know is that you live there. Guess I never paid attention... sorry. I hope everything works out for you and yours.

Just awful devastation. I follow a few folks in the region, and they have similar stories. Take your time. All the best wishes for you!

I've never heard of that term before. Natural weather/disasters can be frustrating to deal with; for us it's been repeated hail damage to our cars (some fixed so far, thankfully roof ok for now).
I hope you and your wife are doing ok! If we can do anything to help let us know.

I think it's actually Derecho and it's up there with Polar Vortex as a meteorological expression likely to be used to describe the wrong thing. (Not in this case, obviously.)

I still fret over "perfect storm".
