Re: GMing a game for Basic Fantasy
I've come to find in my 25 years of running games of this type that if I'm not certain about the lethality of an adventure, I'll err on the side of the players, like what Chris suggested. If it turns out you let 'em be too strong and they're cheesing every Encounter, you can always introduce an additional challenge or obstacle to overcome. That's the beauty of the game. Hopefully it works out better for you next time. For my part, I'd be willing to play in one of your games and be a guinea pig if you need more practice.

Certainly that'll be nice to pratice and get used to GMing further on. Yeah and maybe I could develop my own challenges if things aren't hard enough for the players. Of course I Was still a player when I played other systems (D&D 5e included) and Basic Fantasy.Tazer_The_Yoot wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 2:57 pm I've come to find in my 25 years of running games of this type that if I'm not certain about the lethality of an adventure, I'll err on the side of the players, like what Chris suggested. Ideally, we all wanna remain both players and referees for our entire gaming lives. I enjoy a bit of both. I manage to learn something new, if not every single time I game, at least every year that goes by. Even though I've been doing this stuff for a while now I still consider myself to be learning and adapting as time goes by.
We shouldn't ever stress over things too much because this is recreation first and foremost. It's a hobby, for fun, and while it can be stressful to GM because you feel like more of the burden is on you, it's easy to make it worse in your mind than it really is. That's caused me some frustration in the past, as well, but whenever I look back on sessions I ran that I'm not pleased with, it's not because the players complained but because of silly perfectionist things that exist only in my own head. It's a rough thing to get over if you're subject to it, but stepping back now and then and keeping things in perspective helps.

Yeah, maybe I just overlook things and try to be a perfectionist
. I mean I know I have a lot to learn and I should realize its all in the fun of the players and sharing a experience in the story. But a question is that do you have a discord?

There are so many good adventures for level 1 characters in AA1 and if you wanted to work them from Level 1 to 3 you could always run them through Tales from the Laughing Dragon (shameless plug).
Check out my BFRPG Campaign Setting

I can take a look at that as well. Of course I don't have Ink so I can't print it out the pdfs of the adventures. So its just buying the books would be easier.
