Anyone tried to play BFRPG on Roll20?
Anyone tried to play BFRPG on Roll20?
Has anyone tried to play this system on Roll20? Admittedly, I dont know all the ins and outs of Roll20 but it seems like it could provide basic tools for finding players... I think I'll try it soon as all my freaking players are busy with Christmas and family ... UGH!
Re: Anyone tried to play BFRPG on Roll20?
I've been running BFRPG on Roll20 for years. Here's a little taste of the process:
Online play has changed my life, seriously. With work and family, there is NO way I could game once a week without it. Now, we only game for two hours on most Thursdays, but it's really improved my quality of life! I've even been able to playtest a simple homebrew system thanks to the patience of my players. They're good people.
Please let's keep the conversation going. Happy to provide any technical details.
- Characters are uploaded into the "Handouts" section
- Maps are uploaded. If you use the "Fog of War" you can reveal the map little by little.
- Opponents and NPC tokens are loaded. They can even be hidden from players on the "GM layer" if you like, or just tucked below the map.
- Character tokens need to be uploaded. (Now, I just make tokens in paint.net, just crop
em. There is also a free token tool at:

I know you can "look for players," though I haven't done this. One of my players actually came from this forum Angry Monk. I got the others through meetup, NEPA Dungeons and Dragons. Right now I'm the only online DM on NEPA D&D, but it's free to join and you could ask around there.tvance929 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 6:42 pm Has anyone tried to play this system on Roll20? Yea - I've been putting around with it, but no Players (yet). Fun platform, though I've been using Discord for audio chat.
The Basic Fantasy sheet looks very functional, and easy to set up PC tokens (if you want to go that route) with HP and AC, for instance.

If you have any questions about the sheet, you can ask me here in the forums or pm on Roll20 and I can answer why I chose how and why the sheet functions like it does.
I could probably answer many Roll20 questions also as I have been a member there since 2012.

Metroknight, I didn't know you were the programmer/creator of the sheet. If so, thanks so much. Some of my players use it!Metroknight wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 1:05 am If you have any questions about the sheet, you can ask me here in the forums or pm on Roll20 and I can answer why I chose how and why the sheet functions like it does.

In general for Roll20, you may have better luck with existing players rather than doing a blind casting call. You might also post here on the forums the time and details of the game and maybe you'll get a hit.

I know at least two or three players who will be waiting like kids on Christmas eve!Metroknight wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 8:58 amI have a major revision in the planning stage (aka being thought out) but there is no eta when it will be completed and put on to the main server.teaman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 7:24 amMetroknight, I didn't know you were the programmer/creator of the sheet. Re: Anyone tried to play BFRPG on Roll20?
Heh heh, I would have pointed you to Metroknight or teaman for Roll20 advice, so glad they poked in here! I've got to get more comfortable on Roll20 and play there, I play mainly PbP at this point but have enjoyed the few times I've played on Roll20 a lot.

If you play text on Roll20, drop by the Knights of the Written Word 2 community. We are up to over 750 members. There are games recruiting (various systems not just BFRPG) in the forums pretty regularly. We have a discord server for the community also for live text chats.
