Art Gallery

Post Mon Dec 05, 2011 12:11 am

We have so much really good old-school artwork in our modules now, that I'd like to shine the spotlight on our artists. I'm putting together a page here:

http://basicfantasy.org/gallery.html

which I will link from the main page when I'm sure it's all good. Everyone, please take a look. If you've contributed artwork that currently appears in a publication available on this site, and you don't see yourself here, let me know and I'll get you added. If you want something changed, or see some problem, tell me so I can get it fixed.

Thanks to all our artists for their hard work over the last several years.

BTW: Artists, I'll put a link to your own website right there with your name if you want. Just send me the link and I'll tend to it.

Who drew the art that shows the party coming up one corridor and a group of trolls in a connecting corridor. Page 111 of second edition? That is my favorite BFRPG art.

Steve Zieser.

I'm trying to keep it down to no more than 5 per artist, just FYI, so not every piece will show. But I'll see about getting that one on the page.

Thanks, Chris. That piece of art is the epitome of what a dungeon crawl is. All it needs is a trap in the floor and some sparkly loot in a corner.

It's nice to be able to peruse and see who's done what, and how many have contributed to all of this.

I'm curious about who did the kobold. I think I recognize the style, but it's lacking any clear sigil as to who did it. It's nice to see them returned to their old school plantigrade, big-eared, scaly-dog-faced, I-meant-related-to-dragons-in-a-broad-taxonomic-sense, runt-of-the-dungeon glory.

Thanks for the gallery Solomoriah!
BTW, I'd never have guessed you considered my style the perfect counterpoint to Steve Zieser's work... I'm flattered.
Best regards

Steve has a kind of a gritty style; yours is "cleaner." This is not good or bad for either of you, just different; your art conveys a different feeling that way.

I've always thought your style was a bit like Jeff Dee and a bit like Erol Otus; these are both good things.
