I plan to run U1 tomorrow. The haunted house calls for random encounters on a 1 out of 12 every turn. How would this compare with BFRP since the module is AD&D? I believe BFRPG is 1d8 every 3 turns normally.
Should I run it as the module states or use BFRPG's normal rate or some variant? Any thoughts?

Re: Encounter Rates vs AD&D
It really depends on the tone you wish for your game. Encounter heavy is a more frequent encounter rolling, Encounter light is less rolling. U1 is the saltwater module, correct?
The BFRPG encounter is a 1 on a 1d6 every 3 turns (30 minutes), i think. I forget what the 1e turn scale is.

Yeah, Saltmarsh.
Oh right, 1d6 for BFRPG. I may stick to BFRPG just to practice at those rates.

You can set the rate wherever you want; specific adventures may have higher or lower rates than the core rules prescribe. But giving a "default" keeps everyone on the same playing field.
