Interesting cults

The real-world leopard cult is very interesting (check out David Howery's fantastic 'The Leopard Men', or any of his other Africa type adventures like 'The Elephant's Graveyard' in old Dungeon Magazines). I ran a crocodile cult in a city's sewers that was a lot of fun. Who else had cool themes they encountered with fanatics?
