BFRPG for the win

Post by teaman »

In writing a new character class, I decided to make charts for leveling characters for three old school systems:

1. "Basic/Expert Style"
2. "Advanced Style"
3. BFRPG

What a mistake!!! "Advanced Style" drove me crazy with all the little fiddly bits ( non-standard bonuses, sliding bonuses for saving throws, etc....) "Basic/Expert Style" was much smoother with race as class, though descending AC required me to type a chart each time. BFRPG was the easiest to convert and write pregens by far.

Not knocking "Advanced Style" or "Basic/Expert Style" by any means, but I don't see any reason to go back. Thanks to Chris and everyone here for all the resources, as always.

And next time, it will be ONE chart, with some mild suggestions about how to fit it into the other systems. (Not shilling a product here, it's not even done yet. Just sharing observations)
